Pretty, but framey as fuck, like from 30 to 15 FPS depending on whats going on on screen. An interesting story and I like the live action portion of it. Love the guys over at Remedy and I got Alan Wake in box which I loved when it came out and can't wait to replay. Oh, I'm playing on XBO so it may run better on PC.

alan wake is one of the best games ever. i replayed it last year. i think that was my 3rd playthrough overall. i liked the follow up episodes as well.

play for x minutes then watch a 20 minute cut scene, then play for another x minutes and another 20 minute cut scene. rinse + repeat. that sounds very unnatural and boring to me. it worked for metal gear though. maybe remedy can pull it off
/quantum break/ seems like the xbone equivalent to sony's /the order/; a narrative-based, graphical powerhouse that is lacking in compelling gameplay
You wouldn't not see a movie based on someones opinion that hasn't even seen the entire thing yet.
I just beat it, took a decent amount of time to complete it than what others have been telling me. I suspect those same people must have either not played it or did a speed run through it because it isn't as short as I've heard.
The gameplay was pretty decent, the story kept me interested the entire time, and the 20 min live show segments that take place after hours of gameplay also were not bad at all. Think almost of a Max Payne with a lot of story elements involved and that's Quantum Break.

what about the gameplay and live show segments did you like? from what i've seen and read those seem like the weakest elements of the game. it seems like the presentation and writing are the selling points

The gameplay is about something you would expect from them. If you enjoyed Max Payne you'd enjoy this. The powers add a nice edition to the third person shooting mechanics. I was able to do some cool things that I haven't experienced before in this type of game and when you learn to chain them together the combat becomes a bit more than basic.
The story is great and the live action segments were pulled off far better than I expected. If you have it set in your heart that you don't enjoy these type of games of course you're not going to like it. Like homie said in another post I believe some critics were a bit too snobbish. Everyone I know that actually played it and didn't just judge it off a twitch stream had nothing but good things to say. Worth the money to me.

From what I've played myself it takes hours to get through an act. There are different parts to each act. If you try to find all the upgrades and intel that is needed to change certain parts of the live action show it'll take you quite awhile to get through each one. If you don't like to explore I would say it would take you maybe an hour to get through an act, but that's with perfect play and not experimenting with your powers.
So, even while watching the live action part that could take up to 20 minutes of your time, there are still less cut scene time than metal gear games.

And reviewers who talk down on it I think are being snobs. I have had a ball with it and would certainly recommend copping it if you like third person shooters.

I've only played the first act but I like this so far. Gunfights are different with the time powers (need to get my chains down). Story has my attention so far. Only initial gripe is what someone mention earlier with the frame-rates looking funny at times.
