"MOTHAFU...... I think my router just died :( "

So i have a cisco E3000 router i got back in like 05.
It's been working perfectly for me the whole time, till about two days ago.

The wireless network would appear but only for short time frames and will disappear and boot you off.

Once this started i attempted to go log into the router and check the settings but it still kept booting me.

I eventually got to rename the network but the problem still persisted and now the power light is just blinking and i can't connect period.

did my google'z and did the 30/30/30 the whole nine

any techies out there got any advice for a frustrated individual?

(i have a 100mb comcast cable connect)

Took a few tries to configure it (mostly user stupidity, and a quick online search for a DNS error) but got everything sorted out this morning. Hopefully this should cure the dropping wifi in the house

You should celebrate its life rather than loathe its death.

And in quasi-response to the above post, I have a TP-Link and it's great. Model N750.

I had the ASUS dark knight boy, which was ok, until later softwar updates and a power surge made it very wonky.

it seemed like they did a software update that turned the power down, after initially shipping it with setting that was above the usual limits. I dunno if I'd buy one again

The dlink cylinder one had a security issue but it's been reliable for the most part. The tplink archer is good too but the admin interface is not the best. The netgear is the best, the interface is great and it's very reliable.

After doing some reading, what may be the easiest thing to do is cut the wifi off on the craptacular Actiontec box, set the new router up with a static IP address on one of the quad outlets on the main level, and use that for the wifi. As it stands, the Actiontec drops wireless connections on a daily basis, partly because of location (basement), partly because of the number of devices (my daughter streaming hours of Youtube can't help) and partly because it just sucks. Been reading conflicting reports on how well the Quantum gateway they offer works, so this may be a decent solution
