but cot damn it's entertaining watching these tourneys on Twitch. I don't know all the characters (mostly the 3rd Strike cats) but seeing high level SF play is just as entertaining as it was when I was in grade school, passing around the SNES controller in a room full of kids.

Looking forward to watching whatever matches I can this weekend.... hope some USA cats take it.

It's the weirdest character loyalty ever. I mean, I know he got a divekick, but c'mon. This ain't 2011.

I hope to see PR Rog do well. If for nothing else, to get him to stop crying and acting like he's going to retire. Him and Snake are probably my two favorite US players.

801 is the American with the most momentum coming into Evo. I'm sure the Japanese have been studying Abel after he almost bopped the whole nation at CEO.

I'm kinda interested in seeing how well Valmaster does. Chun is kind of an afterthought in SF4, but Val got them 3S J-Wong turtle skills. I'm rooting for Europe to show out. I still think they're underrated, even after Luffy's win.

I'm a big Rog fan but he *is* one of the biggest babies after losing. "iPeru was talking during my match" at CEO, "Mapped wrong button" at Capcom Cup (despite doing a button check), "I retire", "I don't care about Marvel (when I lose)"...cmon.

Valmaster is also a guy that has leveled up a lot in the last year or so too. fuck Europe though, they already got their shine with Luffy riding the Rose train last year.

the amazing thing was Valle not using a single 360 the entire game (well, I think meat squasher once). and Bonchan was playing super sloppy -- all those late jump-ins against U2.

Some of those omissions are heartwarming.

Evil Ryu did make it tho..because of course he did.

I want to see a really good Honda. And you know I wanna see how a Gouken plays in high level comp. I still believe he's a monsterous killer who can do evil punishment, mixup and mindgame damage. I totally don't believe the middle of the road at best tier designations I always see with him, but 5 years of playing him will do that to you.

I assume everyone has seen everything even a solid Hugo can do, and the TMNT steeze kinda kills him off. Even worse, most Hugos aren't even kinda ready to get the rush put on them since they are so accustomed to having to chase folks down, do their damage, and get it done.

Side note: I've been playing 3S lately. Good lord...unforgiving! Even the computer ain't above bodying you with certain characters. But I love the music and the way it was drawn up. I've just been trying to get out of SF IV mode since I know that game allows a lot of space for flubbery, repetitive everything, and general lameness. I have no idea how V is gonna work but I'm all in on this beta, so I guess I'll get to find out.

At high levels he plays almost like Chun with a demon flip. Good normals, good zoning, great damage.

Good looking out. The thing that sucks at lower levels is that zoning works so well sometimes that I rarely 'get' to mix it up. When I play something like a makoto I generally stash the fireballs and just go for it. You ain't lying about those normals too. I miss that almost as much at the air fireball when I venture away from Gouken.
