4. "ThinkPads easily have the best keyboard if you're gonna do a lot typing" In response to Reply # 0 Sun Apr-12-15 01:20 PM by TomWaitsInOkkervil
I write as a hobby, a good keyboard makes a big difference. ThinkPads are the only laptops I've used where the typing experience is really on-par with a good desktop keyboard.
I've been using an old ThinkPad x120e that I got for $100 dollars on eBay, it's small and not powerful but I only do writing on. It looks like you can get the newer x140e for a decent price:

I've been buying the new zenbooks (Asus ux305) for $699 and theyre great. 8 GB, 256 ssd, very thin and light. Only issue has been some weirdness on connecting to 2.4 GHz wifi at times. Definitely would recommend if you can go up a few hundred more. It's really a steal at $700.
They had this for $339 before coupon: Inspiron 15 - 3542 Processor: Intel Core 4th Generation i3-4030U processor (3M Cache, 1.9 GHz) Windows 8.1 500 GB SATA Hard Drive (5400 RPM) 4GB DDR3L at 1600MHz 15.6 inch LED Backlit Display with Truelife and HD resolution (1366 x 768) 8X DVD +/- RW Drive Intel HD Graphics Dell Outlet Inspiron-15 - 3542
