"Anyone Get PS3 Media Server to stream .mkv to X-Box" Sun Aug-17-14 12:39 PM by DVS
I've heard it can be done, I installed it and I can see the PS3 Media Server folders in my System Video Player
I can even get the thing to play .mp4 files that were giving it trouble...
But .mkv?
Nah Dog.
I keep getting told the codec isn't valid and I'm not savvy enough to fix this joint. All of the online tutorials make it seem like its a piece of cake.
I promise if I can get this thing to stream .mkv's I will do something charitable.
Anyone got it to work? Wanna couch a man thru it?!?
**Ed Note: kinda spin-off of Xbox One getting .mkv file compatibility...but I'm not in the market for a new console so I've got to see if there is ANY VIABLE SOLUTION to get the Xbox to do it. It's literally my media hub at home**
I went thru the encoding settings and it looks like everything is set properly. There isn't a lot of info on what needs to be done specifically on the web and a person like me, who has ZERO experience with codecs, gets hung up on stuff that's probably pretty basic.

I never could get any of my 8gb and up files to act right so gave up on this a long long time ago. I'm so glad that soon XOne will support direct playing of mkvs from usb drives.
