"After 9 years, it's time to permanently replace the old workhorse"
My laptop has been an old Dell Inspiron 5100 from 2003. It's been a trooper kept alive by a new mother board, a new display, maxed out RAM (to a whole 1GB!), a couple of wireless cards, and a couple new hard disks over the years.
Anyway, here is its replacement, an off-lease Thinkpad:
There are things I need to upgrade on it to get it to the way I want it configured, and suggestions will be welcome.
1. Upgrade the RAM to higher performance 800MHz RAM and more of it (4GB) to replace the 2GB of 667MHz RAM in it. 2. Pull the HDD and install a 128GB SSD, 3. It has a DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive in it so I might either replace it w/ a DVD-R or see if it can take another battery in that slot. 4. I can add a video card to it but don't know if it would be worth it.
