NBA 2K9 - THE SEASON III - OPENING DAY/ROUND ONE

Season I - Los Angeles Lakers - mercy4u
Season II - Cleveland Cavaliers - Weslexner
Season III - ?

It's the final NBA 2K9 Okayplayer season, who will take the last crown? Yes, I said final. Understand that NBA 2K10 will be here in a matter of months, so in a sense, this will be the last Okayplayer season until the new game drops. And when it does, we'll do it all over again. But for now, let's discuss this Season real quick so everybody is on the same page.

It appears that any championship has to roll through either Los Angeles or Cleveland with one of the teams meeting in the Finals for Seasons I and II. With more teams and more games, is there a chance mercy4u and WesLexner get knocked off the top? Lach and his Celtics seem to play hard when they want to. They had enough fire power to reach the Finals in Season I, but failed to reach the championship in Season II, thus prompting questions about their age. Are the Celtics fading? The same goes for thelonestranger. You can easily write him in for the playoffs with his high octane offense, but it's defense that wins rings. Plus there's rumors that the 'Stranger has a deal on the table to coach the Chicago Bulls. Will Lach or thelonestranger get a ring before NBA 2K10?

Season II brought some new faces to the dance, specifically in blassfemur and P for Props, two teams that surprised a few folks in their rookie campaigns. The sophomore slump is no joke, so it's going to take the same effort (probably more) to reach the Finals. Some coaches, boogiedown, rjcc and ne_atl are still searching for their identities in a league that's run them over more times than not. How will they respond? Will a new team help? Nipsey, leroybumpkin and MySP1200 are back after a season away from the game. How long will it take for them to get their games back? Then there's the untested. Messiah4976 has been finally given the reigns of an NBA squad. What will he do with it? How can this expansion coach gain the respect of the league?

I'm most excited about this season because it's a good combination of both Season I and II. Kinda like the NBA and the ABA coming together. The next month will tell a lot about who is the best OKP on NBA 2K9.

* THE NBA CHAMPION PRIZE
Microsoft was nice enough to give me a free month of XBOX Live with the return of my "fixed" system. In fact they were so nice, they did it twice. Whether it was on purpose or not, I don't care, but I have an extra month of Live to give out to our Season III champion. I hope this trophy doesn't backfire on me. I have a feeling SOMEBODY is going to (at least try to) drop 100 points with 89 in the paint in an effort to get this.

* SOME REMINDERS:
- There IS a trade deadline. I will not approve any trades once Round 3 begins.
- We're playing 30 games (5 Rounds). Let me repeat myself...30 GAMES!
- The two day rule goes in effect after a week. After which all remaining games will be simulated.
- It is YOUR responsibility to schedule your games via THIS post.
- If for ANY reason you're going to be out of town, busy at work or just away from your XBOX, please let somebody know. Don't roll back in the post two weeks later on some, "Oh, I had to help my friend move to Tanzania." Communicate with the league so we can keep things moving. People who fail to communicate will be replaced.
- The following sliders will be changed from our current setting: Steals (down), Help Defense (up), Dunks In Traffic (down). It won't be drastic. I'll give details of the exact slider numbers later on in this post.
