For those of you who participated and actually got one how has everything been. Its been a year since this happened right? No crazy stuff show up on your credit report? No mass flooding of spam and junk mail? Did you get killed in taxes on your 2008 tax return?

I visit the joshclark forums on the regular and there is a macbook offer out there which people are having luck with. I think I'm going to jump on it before its too late. Any advice, thoughts etc etc?

Nothing fishy as far as the credit report. I included it on my taxes
and got a tax refund, butter! Email account used to get it was forgotten.
It was specifically created for that purpose. Spam all ya want.
I'm not seeing it. Thus far, that was the deal of the century.

I had no problems with credit or taxes for the MBP deal. I did, however, have my credit card info stolen from a vendor on shopfreepay.com; it was a minor charge of 18 dollars charged by someone who stole my credit card info from this t-shirt site/offer, but this was quickly resolved by calling my credit card company. As for the taxes, I'm a student and the person that did my taxes ended up getting me not to pay anything for the MBP.

Mofos got wind of the shit jumping off, and on the Josh Clark message boards they created waiting lists, or "Conga Lines," for people to sign up and refer others with...

Well, the company offering the deal (which is located about 15 minutes from where I live) couldn't deal with the intense demand, and also got wind of the Conga Lines, so they instead inserted a little clause in their agreement which said that anyone who was found to be in a so-called "Conga Line" was no longer eligible for the deal...

After they disqualified enough people for that shit, they then decided that they would substitute the Macbook Pro with a Sony computer...

When that shit didn't work, they inserted another clause in their agreement which said that they would go on head and pay people some money to go away (er, I mean, "compensate the buyer with the retail $2000 price of the computer"... again, I got $600)...

I'm very hesitant to get involved in something like that again... and I think that what the folks at Josh Clark decided to do was to set the "Conga Line" at a small, finite number to avoid last year's rush of people...

Don't get me wrong, the shit is legit and it works, but the problem is is that everybody and their mama gets wind of some shit and it explodes, and people end up getting hoed... you have to just be up on the offers the moment they go up on the site, and respond quickly, and you'll get what you want...

LOL. My joint is sitting next to me in my office with a bulging battery. It still works but has definitely taken a beating. I could replace the battery and throw an SSD in there to give it a few more years which I might do, but it's definitely on the tail end of it's life.

cracked the lcd panel. Found this program that would let you close the lid, yet keep the computer from going to sleep. That worked for years, having it connected to an external monitor.

Now it no longer powers on.
