Heard some lady bitching about open beers in the conference rooms. Fuck, @ DefCon we were drinking beers in the conferences @ 10a.m. to get over our hangovers from the night before.
Honestly, ya pick up on what ya can at these spots. My boy from Reno and myself walked out of more than our fair share in LV b/c they were over our heads, but we still got about 70% of what was presented. You'd def. be in the same boat if not above, fuck, I'm an SE man..this isn't even close to my job, but like ya said, it's fun.
If ya ever get the chance I'd urge ya to check one out. Def worth it

Got a Google moleskine, a few pen testing CD's, nice badge/lanyard (not as fly as the last DefCon's, but oh well), full O'reilley catalog, wristband for a free party in Dupont, and a bunch of other promo material along w/ a sling bag.
Only talk I caught so far was hacking Diebold machines and that was enough to make me lose hope on a fair election (seems like all ya need t rig shit is a generic desk drawer key, a flash card, and very basic programming skills), money well spent so far, if there's interest I'll keep ya'll up on things.
Tomorrow lineup is:
Active 802.11 Fingerprinting Smarter Password Cracking They're Hacking our clients! Why are Databases so hard to secure? VoIP Pen Testing: Lessons learned Got Citrix? Hack It! and Solid State Data Recovery
6. "I was gonna let this die, but...free Johnny Walker Blue Label!" In response to Reply # 4
ok, aside from some excellent conferences I still wasn't sure if that premium post-sale price was worth it.
Well, I def made up for it. The Shmoo folk threw the best con party I've ever been too. Thought the wristbands were just for free entry, but they did it proper and included an open bar....an open bar including Blue Label. Those that don't know, that shit runs $60-80 a shot so I def maxed it out (4 glasses of triple). Soon after though the club management pulled the bottle and announced that the open bar would be ending soon. Oh well, got mine. Next year though, it's def worth it if you can make it, the party usually hops to a new spot each year.
