"So I just got a Blackberry Pearl, as a Mac user where Do I start?"

This is like the first real phone I have ever had.
I am pretty computer savy, but I have no idea where to start.
How does the blackjack compare to the blackberry?

Nah,just kidding, here: http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_blackberry.php

That's for syncing.

I have a Blackjack and use the Windows Mobile version of Missing Sync. It's pretty cool. Never used a Blackberry for any extended periods of time though, so I can't compare.

Blackberry Pearl $59

Iphone $499

I been thinking about that, but the starting price + no insurance is insane.

How many people do you think are going to get killed over Iphones?

multiply that times 24 and see which is cheaper.
i'm finding that even with the rebate, the higher
data plans for other "smartphones" bring your total
cost much higher than with the iPhone at $499 or $599.

its gonna sell like crazy, regardless of whether its good or not. iPod is not the best mp3 player, yet its the most selling.

there's no reason for them to drop price when demand will still be high for months to come.

personally, ill wait for the 3G version and for them to work out kinks. plus i need to see how that touch screen keypad works in person, seems a bit iffy. i do love the potential though.

I use Missing Sync's software after trying both that and PocketMac (the free download that Blackberry offers). I found that Missing Sync was less buggy overall syncing with iCal. I also use the Mark/Space Notebook software to sync notes. I'm pretty pleased with it overall.

Don't get me wrong, the blackberry is dumb as shit, and it's web-browser is like browsing on Mosiac. Iphone is a much better phone and piece of technology goes...

But lets be real, as far as pure communication goes, a blackberry kills iphone. Faster keyboard, and RIM pushes those emails out in ninja speed.

Iphone is a useful all around app, but if I need to get a message out/receiving a massage in hyper-speed, it's no beating a blackberry.

Although, he does have a pearl *shudder*

The only way to get a BB or Winmo phone working properly is with a $40 piece of software, and even then it's hit or miss.

The scales are tilted way too far in favor of Apple cause they'll keep all the good APIs for themselves.

The only way to win is to have all that shit in the cloud. The Google way.

when you sync your Android phone, it pulls down ALL your contacts including people you just may have sent one email to.

To me that's more of a pain than just syncing an address book.

If you just launch the gmail app and start typing a name/email address then it will autocomplete using anyone you've ever emailed.

Alternatively you can just go to your address book, select a contact, then select send email.

They don't really sync all your contacts. Only the people that you've explicitly added to your "My Contacts" group. Although, it would be nice if you could select an alternate contacts group to sync instead.

Fuck your sig.
