If people believe something regardless or not if there's money involved then its not economic. You could make an arguement that everything human beings do in some regard is economic by virtue of the cost benefit analysis of our actions- then in that case there would be nothing unique about racisms relationship to it...as you keep tying to insist on...since everything in that regard is economic.
