I think reading this is essential.
If nothing else go to the stats link so you can see how guys score in this league. http://basketball.sports.ws/league/player_stats.x?y=15_16 I repasted this new link below. This will give you a good idea of how gusy score BASED ON LAST YEARS STATS. Like AB said, the last 2 columns are most essential FPPG Fantasy Points per game and FPPM Fantasy Points per minute.
I bet you rookies have no idea where you even go to make your picks. We dont have a live draft room like those "other sites". We have a running draft. If youve ever drafted an offline league with your friends, think of this as that, but with some more structure.
To participate in draft festivities, click on the "Draft" tab on the black navigation bar on the upper right third of the screen. Yea rookie, its right there next to "Schedule" and "Trash Talk"
If you were somehow smart enough to get that far, now you need to learn how to pick. On the left side of the screen youll see the draft order. Your team should be highlighted in blue every time you have a pick you'll see all your picks for the whole draft.
On the right side youll see a box that says "Draft Priority Queue". You basically draft by putting the player(s) you want into that box. Right below that is the "Available Players" pool that has every player available listed. Here's the tricky part, its not intuitive and NOT reading this could lead you to fuck up.
If you know who you're looking for, there is a handy search box. You can type in a name and find a player.
To pick a player, click on the "queue" button next to his name.
You will then see the players name moved into the "Your Draft Queue" box.
At that point click save and your pick will be made.
IF you do not see a player you are searching for, ask AB or me before doing something dumb. We'll make fun of you, but at least you wont fuck shit up.
OK NOW THE REALLY REALLY tricky part.
Despite 20 years of doing this, .WS hasnt figured out a clever way to do a real draft queue. Technically you can add up 20 players into that queue by clicking "queue" next to their names and clicking "save"
However, if you choose to do this and the person right before you picks, the system will AUTOMATICALLY draft whoever is at the top of your queue.
It doesnt care that you grouped all the centers up top and already have Omer Asik and Tyson Chandler, it will pick Alex Ajinca for you next if he's at the top.
Since we are doing a live draft I highly advise rookies to not save anything in their queue until the clock goes off tonight if you wont be around. At best put 3-4 guys in your queue and make sure to order them in priority of who you want, not position.
Finally, please dont come in here and draft based off your shitty Yahoo leagues. On the draft page there is no rankings or stats like Yahoo, ESPN or any of those other shitty sites. You should have your own lists and spreadsheets.
AT THE VERY LEAST click this link: http://basketball.sports.ws/league/player_stats.x?y=15_16
If it does not work, click on the "Toys" button on the far right of the navigation bar and click on "2014-2015 Player Stats"
That is the beginning of where you should look for players and the end. The middle can be Yahoo or some other shit.
The 2014-2015 Player stats has the players actual stats from last year along with their scoring using the WS format.
Remember our league scores more like fanduel.
You essentially get 1 pt per point scored 3 per assist 2.5 per OREB 2 per DREB 3 per Steal 3 per Block -3 pe rturnover
The toys page has 2 Essential numbers on the far right (its like an excel sheet so its sortable by column)
First number FPPG = Fantasy Points per game calculates the avgl # of Fantasy points per game a player scores.
Example if Lebron scores 10, 10 Drebs, 2 blocks, 3 assists 3 turnovers he gets
10 (10x1) for 10 points 20 (10x2) for the 10 rebs 6 (2x3) for the 2 blocks 9 (3x3) for the 3 assists and -9 (3x-3) for the 3 turnovers for a total of 36 FP
The number on the far right is FPMM or Fantasy Points Per Minute. Since minutes are important for your lineups sake, FPPM is an important #
You dont want a guy who scores 36 fppg if it takes him 50 minutes to do it
So FPPM is determinded by dividing FP by Minutes played.
Generally (but this isnt always true) the players you want on your team will be over 1 FPPM avg.
The toys page will show you as guys get drafted.
