>>the best food (on campus) > >At Duke, ....
first, I'm not even trying to front like i know the minutiae of EVERY school
that said, even at my tiny D3-level school the teams got priority (a bump in line) on some "they gotta get to practice" or alternately special hours on some "they got OUT of practice after regular hours"
so even if it was the same crappy food they got first dibs
beyond my experience, which is in no way emperical, there are more than a few schools where the athletic department has a dedicated cafeteria/cooks/nutritionists (see oregon and their multi-million dollar facility for example)
>>and all the "outside" stuff (registration priority in >classes, >>gear, girls, cars, free whatever else...) > >They get rides places for basketball functions, but if they >want to drive to the club or take a road trip, they're not >gifted free cars. At least not at Duke.
I legit mean FREE CARS (or damn near free)
see: reggie bush as an example
again, places have special hookups at places where you can "get a deal" this isn't in any way rare
>But you are getting paid a salary that you can spend as you >see fit, give to your family, etc.
and it could be said that the equivalent of my salary for the athlete is the scholarship and all the other direct benefits you mentioned.
right?
efficacy of my examples notwithstanding (this isn't a proofing of my arguement is it?), the historical argument has always been that athletes should get additional cash to do with whatever they want - my response is that many all ready do, just not "legally" (according to NCAA shenanigans)
