This deal seemed iffy at the time and in hindsight it got a lot worse. What did they get with the picks? Adams and McGary? Not awful but not great and none of the other guys stuck.
Obviously both their big stars were injured at key times, but how could they have foreseen that?
What I will reiterate is that OKC was not cheap, that Harden did not want to remain in his role at that time and that the only thing that can really be questioned is their timing. This article offers an insightful critique for the Monday morning quarterbacks out there, but the bottom line is that the deal sucked. I mean, if they were going to give him away, why not look to an Eastern team at least?
