Not the people on OKS mind you, I'm pretty much with all of you that athletes in revenue sports should see some cut of the TV money and at the very least be able to market themselves (and bring back my damn NCAA football game to Playstation), but the average college sports fan? The type that fills r/CFB or comments on AL.com or watches College Football Daily religiously? These people DO NOT want to see some mostly black, mostly not academically qualified compared to the regular student body, college athletes get any sort of payment for their entertainment. I truly think the interest in college sports would fall and the money pool would shrink if the athletes were compensated somewhat fairly and openly cause THEY had to pay and struggle through college themselves, despite the fact they did nothing to bring millions of dollars to the university. It's sort of the driving a new car off the lot theory.
I'm pretty sure most 40 and under, college graduate types generally fall towards the position OKS leans here, but we're also generally not the ones building training facilities and paying absurds amounts for season tickets here. That old guard is going away but it's dying hard.
