is that it really wasn't about breaking the law before. it was about him not having gone to Harvard and that being a huge deal with the firm. For a while he didn't even try his own cases, he just did research. They could have easily legalized him before he started trying his own cases but they wanted to keep up the lie that he went to Harvard which has no legal ramifications whatsoever...it just kept his secret away from the firm. The whole thing is kinda silly.
