It just really felt off to me for the most part. McHale, Bree and Pudi all seemed like they had somewhere better to be. I mean, that's just how I felt. This is one of my favorite sitcoms of all time, so maybe I'm being hard on it, but it just didn't work as a whole for me. There were really only 3 episodes I loved (Subway/Honda, Paintball pt 3, and the finale). The rest, there were episodes where I sat there puzzled when it ended.
Before the season started, when they had just begun shooting, Harmon talked a bit about the writing process on his podcast, and you could kinda hear in his voice that his heart wasn't in it. And that's what I think was mostly missing this season: the heart. Other than the finale, I didn't really feel any of the emotion that this show had done so well in the past.
And no disrespect to Paget, but Frankie was a shitty character. Granted, she did have moments, but she as a whole just never clicked for me. Keith David was fucking amazing though.
Harmon's farewell in the Board Game commercial was really touching though.
