I wouldn't quite say that. Season 3 is the weakest (couple classic eps though), but then season 4 is the best imo.

It's a mix between horror/thriller/mystery/police procedural. I definitely think you should check it out, but don't quite expect something on The Wire/SFU/Sopranos level. The first season is available on DVD, the 2nd season just finished airing.
