It's not blaspheming as much as missing the point of the original, which was an entirely personal confession by Fellini. Guido wasn't just some glamorous director--he was Fellini.
If you are interested in "8 1/2 meets Fosse," check out the really great "All that Jazz." It carries the basic thrust of 8 1/2 (filmmaker reflects on life of wasted talent and idiosyncratic passions) but is entirely a Fosse confessional.
