"We not gon' talk about Prince's Piano & A Microphone 1983 album?!"
This came out on Friday.
I realize that for serious Prince fans, this material is not new. Nonetheless, I'm curious to know OKP's thoughts.
I purchased the CD today at Target on my way to work.
Now, before someone asks: No, I don't still *play* CDs; I rip them into my iTunes library with an external hard drive. I still buy *some* CDs for completist/collector's reasons and/or for the liner notes.
My initial thoughts upon ripping off the shrink wrap: where the fuck are the extended liner notes?
I did some research and apparently, those only come with the deluxe edition. From Rolling Stone: "A deluxe edition, featuring both a CD and LP, will come with a booklet featuring new liner notes from Prince’s then-engineer Don Batts, who presided over the original sessions. The booklet will also include never-before-seen images of Prince.
*eyeroll*
So, basically, I gotta buy a vinyl record I don't want for the booklet with Don Batt's contributions?
Yeah. Not cool.
But back to the music. What y'all think?
