"Poll question: Producer with the best TWO year run"

alright, lets have one rule: has to be restricted to a 2 year period.

otherwise, I am not sold on the idea of one for one matches. Meaning, total output is not the defining criteria, and one song with huge impact can be just as important as a whole album. One example is Crooklyn Dodgers... To me that song means just as much to Tip's legacy as Midnight does as a whole.

Obviously, my choices are wildly up for debate. I could've picked 5 other producers with similar runs, but these were the first ones that came to my head. What say you?

My pick goes to Q-Tip 93-94. After producing ARGUABLY the best Tribe album, which also came with non-album tracks that were just ridiculous (Wild Hot), he comes back with one of the most subtle influences on an album that a producer could ever hope to have: The Infamous. Yes, Havoc mainly produced it. BUT, in addition to the 2 bangers Tip produced, Tip clearly had his hand on almost every track. It is well documented that Tip was heavily involved in the whole album, and you can here the Tribe sonic footprint on several songs, especially Survival of the Fittest. Then there's Crooklyn Dodgers, a song that literally set NYC on fire in 94. I point to that song as Buckshot's arrival party, even more so that Gotcha Opin. And, although I consider Dilla the greatest producer ever, I think that the World Is Yours Remix is the earliest example of the "neo soul" sound (i hate that term, but you know what i mean) that exists. Tribe in general birthed that movement, but that beat in particular was Rhodes over hard drums in a way his previous work wasn't.

Poll result (23 votes)
Primo 94-95 (Hard to Earn, Sun Rises, Living Proof, Illmatic, Return of Crooklyn Dodgers, D&D All Stars, etc) (10 votes)Vote
Q-Tip 93-94 (Midnight Marauders, Crooklyn Dodgers, Infamous, World is Yours Rmx, etc.) (1 votes)Vote
RZA 95-96 (Liquid Swords, OBFCL, Gravediggaz, Iron Man) (9 votes)Vote
Pete Rock 92-93 (Mecca and the Soul Brother, World Is Yours, A.D.O.R., Shut Em Down Rmx, Jump Around Rmx, Blue Funk, Down with the King, etc.) (2 votes)Vote
Paul C 87-88 (Ultramagnetic MCs, Supa Luva Cee and Cassanova Rudd, Black Rock and Ron, Stezo, Organized Konfusion, etc) (1 votes)Vote
