"What Are Some of the DOPEST & WACKEST R&B Remakes?"
For this week's episode of my podcast we're chopping it up about the dopest R&B remakes based off a convo I was having with my man JR about the Sparkle soundtrack remake of Hooked On Your Love that I rocked with but that he thought was wack as hell. Of course, my question for cats this week is what are some of the dopest & wackest R&B remakes and why?
My jawns are a clump of Luther songs with him redoing The Carpenters "Superstar", Dionne Warwick's "A House Is Not A Home" and Brenda Russell's "If Only For One Night." #2 is Xscapes' cover of The Jones Girls "Who Can I Run To" #3 is Jodeci's cover of Stevie's "Lately", #4 is Maxwell's cover of Kate Bush's The Woman's Work and #5 is Troop's cover of the Jackson 5's All I Do Is Think of You. And for the wackest I've got is Ginuwine's cover of Prince's "When Doves Cry", Kelly Price's cover of Shirley's "As We Lay" and this live performance of Ashanti trying to remake Whitney's "I Have Nothing."
And in case cats don't have time to peep the whole show and wanna get straight to the convo, skip to the 18:27 mark and you're good money.
