For this week's ep we had another topic planned but right before we started recording, I was playing a beat I just made on the maschine and I said that "akai would have to pay me to use the MPC again" which was hip hop blasphemy for Ev so the show turned into why I love the maschine vs. my MPC2000xl, do producers have to evolve from the equipment they use (Pete Rock moving from the SP1200 to the MPC2000xl, Primo moving from the MPC 60 to the Renaissance & Alchemist moving from the ASR-10 to the MPC2500) and how does that effect their sound, why cats swore by the SP1200 but 90% of them moved on from it, why with apps like garageband do we have 8,000,000 "producers" now, hardware vs. software, why I switched from the 2000xl to the maschine and most importantly why akai would have to pay me to use it again.
But for all of my producers in the lesson, my question for ya'll is what has been ya'll evolution on the machines ya'll use and why did you move on to other equipment and if you didn't why did you stay with what you first started rocking with?
