I'm going on record to say that 1998 wasn't a great year for hip-hop album-wise. Or at least mainstream album-wise. Some good stuff at the top in terms of quality, but a whole lot of unevenness in general. This was very much a time when I went all the way into indie hip-hopp 12"s.
