From how I understand it at least.
We're not talking about fully formed songs or the artists' best albums. We're talking albums where no matter the overall quality of the album, production-wise or otherwise....but where the MC was in a ZONE throughout, Eminem's Relapse is my favorite example. Maybe the themes you didn't like, or the stories. Maybe you hated the production. But you CANNOT say that Eminem was not putting on a rap/English language clinic on that album.
So, in summation, it's not a "weird one" at all. It's exactly the kind of album the OP was calling for, from the way I understood it.
