Like what another poster said, it all depends on the song, I know Sa-Ra was in this department for making beats/songs off-beat on purpose but I think that was the fascination with their music though, everybody was in a J-Dilla zone and tried to replicate it until they got into their own vibe but not many people do that anymore except new kats who are just getting into it, so the cycle kind of repeats.
