Fans of Trombone Shorty and Raphael Saadiq will be pleased. Raphael co produced and co wrote two songs on Trombone Shorty's album It's called Say That To Say This
Trombone Shorty is a top notch performer He is in the same boat as The Roots (since Game Theory), Dave Matthews and Robert Randolph, who can't seem to make a studio recording as hot as their live performances With Say That To Say This the same still can be said but instead of a watered down record this is a good record on its own Shorty's singing is improving as well and on the track Raphael co-wrote Long Weekend you can just imagine what he would have sounded like singing it RS at least temporarily did not try to rewrite a Holland Dozier Holland song and went back to his Instant Vintage funk
As usual the cd is sprinkled with instrumentals and positive corny lyrics but it works
Best tracks
Long Weekend co-written by RS & Taura Stinson Shortyville co-written by RS & TS Sunrise
You can listen to this on this site in which he previewed the whole cd
ON a side note I am loving the 9.99 Best Buy cd new cd price If they had done this back in the day instead of charging 18.99 (which I paid for Boyz II Men second cd when it was released) they wouldn't have had the downloading problem
