To me, it's the best album (at least lyrically) I've heard in a very, very long time.
I find his subject matters so interesting. And the way he composes his verses is very clever - witty and intelligent word-play and intricate raps. "Not Really" is perhaps the best example of his originality and intelligence when it comes to subject matter and lyrics. He breaks down fame and the change in his life with real humilty. It's dope to hear this from an MC. I'm also impressed how he doesn't come off corny on tracks where most rappers would struggle to avoid being corny (For The Kids and Couple Bars).
The beat selection is dope too. There is a great variety of styles and he switches his flow up accordingly for each one.
To me, I think he might have created a classic. I hope it gets more shine and appreciation.
One final thing - when was the last time an MC put an album out on Stonesthrow and there wasn't a Madlib production/B-side remix on it? I like how he's gone for lesser known cats behind the boards (other than Oddisee and Oh No, the beat makers are all new to me) but hasn't compromised on the quality of the beats.
