I'm no longer upset that Yasiin Bey, Q-Tip and Common don't have a bigger presence on the album.
G.O.O.D. Music's brand right now is opulence and brashness, and that isn't the steez that Yasiin Bey, Q-Tip and Common best represent. That's not to say that a solo song by Yasiin Bey, Q-Tip, or Common wouldn't have fit on Cruel Summer - especially since Cudi had his own. But I can see why Yasiin, Q-Tip and Common aren't really there.
If anything, Yasiin/Common/Q-Tip would've made sense if Cruel Summer dropped in 05-08. During the Late Registration, Be, Finding Forever, Don't Lose Your Day Job era of the crew.
The LP is a good representation of where G.O.O.D. seems to be at now, so I'm pretty happy with it. I really think Pusha-T solidified how he fits into the fabric of the crew on this album, he's the MVP here. Sean continued to showcase his stylish lane too, and the other cameos make sense. REALLY glad 'Ye took that wack ass breakdown out of "New God Flow," and even more glad he put Ghostface on the song to pay homage.
...I still wouldn't be mad if there were a few iTunes bonus tracks with Bey and Tip though.
