I'm about halfway through now. It seems to pretty much be her origin story.

JJ isn't your typical "superhero" show, and after the first season, I knew what to expect coming into this one. They really build a story and paint the picture slowly and carefully. It's definitely not a show for someone looking for a bunch of action or with a short attention span. I actually appreciate that. I notice alotta Marvel shows take that route (i.e. "The Punisher" and "Runaways" most recently).
I'm finding this season pretty good so far.
