"Who knew feminist could be funny? (Amy Schumer Post)" Mon Mar-31-14 10:20 AM by Buddy_Gilapagos
Alright I have skipped her show for a while because I pegged her as another "cute white girl saying outrageous things" comedy. I thought she was funny but wasn't really breaking any new ground.
However, I recently caught a couple of episodes of Inside Amy Schumer and it seems to me that her show is subversive in a way that I didn't really give her credit for.
I just think that these sketches all skewer men in a way that can be achieved from a woman's perspective.
And if you think these skits are a good example of feminist comedy because they fail the The Bechdel Test, I thought this was an awesome critique of how women are trained not to accept praise:
Not super mind blowning or revolutionary but no one is really doing this. Sarah Silverman's thing is she is as outrageous and as silly as the boys. Mindy Kaling is too boy crazy to be critical of men. Whitney Cummings is just not funny. Tina Fey is in to this sort of commentary but she is a bit of a prude so she doesn't get into the sex stuff.
Anyway, I am a dude so it is inherently suspect for me to praise something as feminist so I was wondering if others thought of the series.
