It is an archaic tool that's been used by white supremacists countless times throughout history to limit the advance of civil rights in this country.
That said, as much as I dislike Feinstein, she has a point. If, God forbid, the Republicans control both houses and the Presidency in 2024, the lack of a filibuster becomes just as much of a tool of white supremacy. I honestly shudder to think about how much worse things could be right now if McConnell had caved to Trump four years ago and nuked the filibuster.
Also, there'd be problems with this particular Senate even without the fillibuster. It would make ass-hats like Manchin and McSally even more insufferable. Hell, even with the filibuster intact, Manchin is being insufferable. The move would give him even more power. And if he's currently balking at supporting a bill for increased background checks on firearms, I have serious doubts he's going to back a necessary sweeping voting rights bill.
So, here's the only other sing I say: get rid of the filibuster, but only if you're certain that 1. You can pass a new voting rights act and 2. You can give statehood to Washington DC and Puerto Rico. Both measures, and certainly the latter, would strengthen the Democratic majority in the senate and help in the House as well.
