I've only ridden my other bikes like twice. I started off just using the single speed after giving the fixed a brief try and nearly busting my neck because I tried to coast. Then I started doing single speed to work (downhill) then fixed home (uphill). And then I just went full fixed. I have a brake. I use it when necessary. But slowing down, stopping, adjusting. There's nothing like that control.
I imagine it's the difference between driving a car with cvt and going to a stick.
I'm giving bike polo a shot this week. I love fixed that much right now.
The tires are thicker so I don't pop as many tubes. Less parts. Less cleaning.
