I just had a dog run up on my dog-- far from the first time it's happened. Minding our own business walking on our block when a huge dog full-blown sprints down the sidewalk to get to my dog. My dog is big and doesn't like other dogs, so I keep my dog separate from yours by using a leash-- it's for the protection of both my dog and yours.

The guy said, "Sorry, he never does this!" I don't fucking care. He *can.* And sometimes, he *will.* And it's against the law. The fine clearly isn't strict enough, as it doesn't disincentivize ANYONE from walking their dogs off-leash. There are dog parks that are specifically for allowing dogs to be off-leash. You can go there.

This doesn't even address the random individuals who are scared of dogs, or the people who don't want muddy pawprints or slobber on their pants, or whatever other person just simply doesn't want an off-leash dog near them for any reason.

I'm trying to protect you, your dog, me, and my dog by keeping your dog on a leash. Do the same.
