"Ronda Rousey Admits to Having Suicidal Thoughts After Losing to Holm"

http://www.esquire.com/sports/news/a42183/ronda-rousey-suicide-interview/

None of us could possibly imagine what it's like, after going undefeated and reaching the very top of your profession—to finally experience failure. Especially in a sport as physically and emotionally punishing as MMA, a loss is debilitating in every way. When Holly Holm shocked the world by knocking out undefeated champion Ronda Rousey in the second round of UFC 193 in November, we knew right away that Rousey's recovery would be a long and difficult one. She had to build herself back up both mentally and physically. She was in a dark place immediately after the loss, as she told Ellen in an her first post-fight interview that airs today:

"I was literally sitting there and thinking about killing myself and that exact second I'm like 'I'm nothing, what do I do anymore and no one gives a shit about me anymore without this.' To be honest, I looked up and I saw my man Travis was standing up there and I looked up at him and I was like, I need to have his babies. I need to stay alive."
While it's tough news to hear from anyone, Ellen finds the positive in Rousey having the courage to admit it. "To hear you say that is actually a really great thing ... There are a lot of people who have thoughts like that and they're looking at you and going, 'wow, if she's having thoughts like that...'"
