Don't Worry Metro Riders, You'll Get a Refund For This Week's Commuting Hell BY MATT COHEN IN NEWS ON AUG 7, 2015 4:15 PM
Metro is planning to issue refunds for riders affected by this week's problems that left thousands of people stranded.
Metro Interim General Manager Jack Requa announced this afternoon that WMATA would issue SmarTrip credit to all riders who traveled on the Blue, Orange, and Silver Lines today.
"We absolutely understand the frustration among our Blue, Orange and Silver line customers," Requa said in a statement (and, as a release states, is a regular Orange Line rider, JUST LIKE US). "Given the significant service disruptions that inconvenienced riders over multiple commutes this week, we are taking this step to thank everyone for bearing with us. I also offer a sincere apology to everyone who was inconvenienced.”
Anyone who used their SmarTrip card to enter and exit the Metro system via the Blue, Orange, or Silver Lines between 5 a.m. and 7 p.m. today will automatically receive a credit for the fare they were charged. The credit should appear on their cards early next week and riders don't need to do anything else to receive it.
