^^ that's why. those are the benefits.

there would still be a black market for drugs as there's still a black market for booze...but that market is MUCH smaller than it was when booze sale was prohibited by law. and the amount of violence related to that black market is minimal.

legalization of drugs would effectively kill the black market which would reduce crime. also, if drugs are legalized then we'll see fewer ppl jailed for drug-related offenses (at least sale and possession). which would greatly benefit communities that have been ravaged by rampant incarceration.
