I've been using freshbooks for years now. It's free for three clients. Input contact info, start projects, allows me to use a timer to make keeping track of hours so much easier. My favorite feature is it sends automatic overdue notices.

Over three active clients there is a fee but it stores clients forever. So when I'm finished with a project, I'll archive them and can always un-archive them years later when they want revisions. There's been very few times I've needed the pay version but even then it was great to free up my time.

It also allows me to see my time logged each day, invoices over months (both paid and overdue) and the app works seamlessly. At tax-time it's a great one-stop summary over my invoices for the year.
