That's probably more or less because of the mass immigration of other groups (e.g. Latinos). Obviously we were in a much higher percentage of the population in decades and centuries prior, but with so much competition from other immigrants we have been left at the bottom of the totem pole.

I don't know.. and the thought of that is troubling.
The problem I have with the melting pot concept is that it attempts to mold together things that should be individusally appreciated. This country is suppose to be about diversity so why would anyone want a homogenous population that's built on a false majority?
