LoL..

The thing is, while youtube, myspace, itunes, downloading, blogs..ect have carved a hell of a space in the industry..the ONE thing major labels got going for itself is that you can't really get famous FAMOUS, unless you on a major still..the majors still have the bread to get an artist material "OUT THERE".. on a national/worldwide scale..where people can see, recognize, be familiar with and buy a seemingly 'professional' product, presentation and package wise..

For the most part, ain't no mtv, bet, 106 & Park, commercial radio, XXL, Rolling stone, mainstream media unless you on a major...they still have the juice in that regard..

And the majors is still the final 'co-sign' to the artist and to the fans..your not a 'REAL" rapper, artist, performer in the eyes of the public until they have seen you on popular culture radio/TV/magazines..until then you still kind of looked at as an "amateur" in the eyes of the general public..no matter how dope..

Even the people who is savvy enough to know that you don't have to be signed to be dope will say.."Damn such a such music is dope?.."WHy ARENT'T THEY SIGNED YET?!" So even though the monopoly took a big hit..the majors is still the "promise land" though..

Even if you the most artsy non-materialistic, tree huggenist dude ever..the allure of the majors is still going to attract you, just for the fact it can get your music out there to a broader audience to be heard (at least that's what you tell your fans so they wont turn on you, but the real reason is the artsy dude want to fuck some hoes too..LoL)

Killing it with blogs, myspace, youtube, CdBaby, itunes is great and all, but it's still just a platform to get on a major label..

So yhea its cool to pray for the death of the riaa and the music industry, but as long as it's people out there that want to be 'stars' and 'famous' (and best believe there will ALWAYS be that) the major ain't gonna go COMPLETLY away..
