"Essential codecs (for playback) ??"
Tue Nov-29-05 08:01 AM by Deluge

im not too familiar with this kinda stuff
but lately ive been VJing w/ my laptop (doing live video mixing at clubs w/ programs such as Resolume.com)

anyway
i experience trouble w/ some videofiles every now and then
and i was wondering what the essential codecs are for viewing
i used to have that klite codec pack installed but was told by a fellow vj the other night that that shit is crap. i uninstalled it and i got the latest divx installed. most things seem to work fine (but if anybody has a tip on which codecs to install and not its very welcome) but streaming in WMP sometimes comes with this error:

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported. If you typed a URL in the Open URL dialog box, try using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:" or "rtsp:").

anybody know what the problem is?
