"Mac Users: Question about Updating Flash...."

I am trying to update my flash player to the newest version. I Downloaded Flash Player 8 and started to install it. Well once it "finished" installing, the Macromedia website pops up and I get this error message:

The page “Macromedia - Flash Player” has content of MIME type “application/x-shockwave-flash”, but you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type. A plug-in should be available on this page:

http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer

Do you want to open the page?

When i click on that page it takes me back to the same page I downloaded the Flash Player from. Its really annoying and my flash was working before I tried to update. Can anyone help me out with any suggestions??? Thanks
