"can't view anything Flash on Firefox"

when i click to install the missing plugins, it'll find the plugins, but it freezes on the installing plugins screen.
ditto when i upgraded to the latest version of Firefox.
apparently there's some issues with Flash 8 and Firefox, and i can't downgrade to Flash 7 (not on oldversion.com.. and then there's this:
http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1895,1883059,00.asp
which i suspect has a lot to do with that)

do i take the L and just view all content with IE or has anybody figured this one out?
