2690437, We really better draft well Posted by DJR, Tue Mar-12-19 07:20 PM
You give up one of the most productive and dynamic players in the league in his prime.....you better pick somebody really good at 17 and in round 3.

2690498, did you foresee OBJ being a part of NYG return to prominence? Posted by 3xKrazy, Wed Mar-13-19 09:40 AM
genuinely curious
|
2690509, Return to prominence? Posted by Cenario, Wed Mar-13-19 11:21 AM
I saw him as the least of our problems and not any type of hinderance to our team being good.

2690522, Beckham single handidly made a lot of horrific football teams watchable Posted by DJR, Wed Mar-13-19 12:21 PM
And the one good football team we’ve had recently in 2016, OBJ breaking a big play was the entire offense.
We’ll see what they do with the picks and the cap space.
|
2690532, return to playoffs? Posted by 3xKrazy, Wed Mar-13-19 01:51 PM
if that word is more appropriate

Bomani Jones made a good point, though, Freddie Kitchens probably needs to make the playoffs NOW or he's toast.

No it means Antonio Brown did.
|
2690486, i dont think this was a nightmare trade for NYG Posted by HecticHavoc, Wed Mar-13-19 09:14 AM
Peppers is a stud. and he is REALLY young.
if they nail the two picks, and build the line around Zeitler, it isn't the travesty trade most people are making this out to be.
|
2690491, it's a culture decision, not a football decision Posted by T Reynolds, Wed Mar-13-19 09:23 AM
or something like that
|
2690510, I mean we did get alot back. Posted by Cenario, Wed Mar-13-19 11:23 AM
But its hard to trust what gendleman is doing. Is their a plan? If so, what is it? I mean they just saidna few weeks ago theybwerent trading him. While the return is good, its not exactly "we have to make this deal" good.
|
2690516, 100m in cap space next year Posted by T Reynolds, Wed Mar-13-19 11:40 AM
unloading bloated contracts he inherited is just the first step in seeing what kind of GM Gettleman is going to be.
obvs the biggest step to the 'new Giants' is the one they haven't taken yet, and that's QB
|
2690521, That dont apply to OBJ tho Posted by Cenario, Wed Mar-13-19 12:17 PM
|
2690523, To be honest I think it took a lot of work to keep Odell happy Posted by T Reynolds, Wed Mar-13-19 12:28 PM
and he was already implying he didn't like being in NY, didn't think Eli was good (publicly not ok to say), needed to be reeled in on the sidelines, etc.
When I saw the news my initial reaction was panic and disappointment, but I've let it sink in that they're really scrapping and rebuilding.
Plus now all those people gotta buy new jerseys.
|
2690542, Thats today's WR Posted by Cenario, Wed Mar-13-19 02:13 PM
Well, elite WR at least.
>he was already implying he didn't like being in NY, didn't think Eli was good (publicly not ok to say), needed to be reeled in on the sidelines,

2690590, some good insight regarding the trade + touching dedication Posted by T Reynolds, Thu Mar-14-19 07:41 AM
https://www.bigblueview.com/2019/3/14/18265234/ny-giants-rumors-news-3-14-odell-beckham-trade-jay-glazer-sirius-xm-nfl-radio
The delay in trade was probably caused by different opinions, Mara vs. Tisch and Shurmur who wanted to keep him
Odell shutdown at end of year and team played well. I remember a couple of the other receivers started to shine a lil with Eli. Let's not forget Eli has made mediocre receivers look great on occasion for years.
The unhappiness playing in NY. Seemed sick of losing (understandably). The press can be taxing.
Touching dedication to #13 never forget, b https://www.reddit.com/r/NYGiants/comments/b0y1dj/always_gon_be_a_brudda_in_east_rutherford_thank/

2690592, Da fuq? Only W after odell went down was against sanchez Posted by Cenario, Thu Mar-14-19 08:43 AM
>Odell shutdown at end of year and team played well. I remember a couple of the other receivers started to shine a lil with Eli. Let's not forget Eli has made mediocre receivers look great on occasion for years.
If you really believe that then you should expect the giants to be significantly better this year.
And lol at eli making mediocre recievers look great on occasion for years. Beside thay hilarious qualifier'on occasion' who was the last reciever that applied to Steve Smith in 2009?
|
2690594, glad you caught the 'on occasion' i lol'd when i wrote it Posted by T Reynolds, Thu Mar-14-19 09:05 AM
Just saying dude, OBJ was THE ONLY offense we had when he was in the game at times. Then, when he and the entire receiving corps went down in the same game, Eazy E had to be the entire offense and showed he can be very productive. Engram, Shep, and whatever other guys they find gonna have to carry the offense with Saquon.
Williams went back to the Panthers, but maybe they can get Remmers in at RT today. With that starting line as it looks right now, Eli has no excuse. We don't need YAC to the house we just need a solid production.
|
2690596, Lol glad to know you laughed at that Posted by Cenario, Thu Mar-14-19 11:01 AM
But you really have expectations for this season?
|
2690597, I certainly have expectations Posted by T Reynolds, Thu Mar-14-19 11:31 AM
good or bad remains to be seen
I just know I can't take another season of OBJ upset on the sidelines
Both Odell and Eli deserve better
OBJ gonna be playing with Baker, and his boy Jarvis on a young team with a lot of potential. The NY media gave him constant shit, now he don't have to deal with all that.
Huge dead money this year, next year the rebuild is in full swing
