2689035, BI tracking to be better than all of them Posted by LA2Philly, Tue Feb-26-19 10:05 AM
|
2689047, i've long said BI is Duke's best prospect. Posted by Basaglia, Tue Feb-26-19 10:29 AM
means nothing to me to say he's better than tatum
|
2689048, Tell us more. Posted by Beezo, Tue Feb-26-19 10:33 AM
I’m guessing you’ll get plenty of replies to this.
|
2689050, It's simple. Just look at his trajectory compared to current elite wings Posted by Cold Truth, Tue Feb-26-19 11:15 AM
At the same point in their careers.
The Magic/Rob/Bron union fucked us out of the patience needed for these guys to grow. So that is what it is.
But BI is keeping pace with Kawhi, Gianniz, George, and Butler at the same point in their careers.
|
2689073, There’s a lack of patience, agreed, but each player has still developed Posted by LA2Philly, Tue Feb-26-19 01:30 PM
Kuz is developing, BI is morphing into a star, Lonzo was morphing into a dominant two way team leader before the injury. Hart is the only one who’s truly been hurt by impatience because he did way too much over the summer and it led to his current knee problems.
|
2689085, WHAT?! Posted by ThaTruth, Tue Feb-26-19 02:27 PM

2689090, I mean... Posted by Ryan M, Tue Feb-26-19 03:02 PM
http://bkref.com/tiny/bo7UD
Giannis is a stretch. But look at these other players at age 21 (22 for Jimmy).
Now look at their 3rd seasons: http://bkref.com/tiny/f7pml
It's not that far off.
|
2689092, All the while having to constantly adjust to a new role Posted by LA2Philly, Tue Feb-26-19 03:41 PM
Outside of KD, all those guys were allowed to play to their strengths and then develop the rest of their games. BI has constantly been pushed outside of his strengths, constantly been under the limelight, had his timeline sped up...and he's still responded with this type of growth curve.
His mentality and now his play are incredible, all things considered
|
2689098, what are BI's strengths? Posted by ThaTruth, Tue Feb-26-19 03:59 PM

2689103, Why are you ignoring the numbers? Posted by Ryan M, Tue Feb-26-19 05:06 PM
|
2689104, Why move the comparison to age? Posted by bentagain, Tue Feb-26-19 06:05 PM
None of the dudes on the list are one and done
...somebody uptop already conceded Giannis before you jump in your feelings...but...but...
Jimmy didn't get minutes as a rookie, and came off the bench in his 2nd season
Kawhi...coming off the bench as a rookie
PG...coming off the bench as a rookie
...but let's compare them at the same age...
LOL, ya'll desperate
BTW, Kuz has more 30pt games this month than BI
Feels like just last week ya'll were escapegoating Bron for BI's struggles
He breaks 30...and now he's on a trajectory to be an MVP candidate
OkayPlayer.

2689171, Because you're not comparing apples to apples Posted by bentagain, Wed Feb-27-19 12:06 PM
Hmm...what's different about BI's 3rd season...I can't imagine, LOL
But to drill down more on my point about the start of the other players mentioned careers
Jimmy, PG, Kawhi, and yes, believe it or not, even Giannis, all started their careers for playoff teams
that is to say, they weren't immediately starters, and had to work their way into the lineups
Take PG for example
He sat behind Danny Grangier, until Grangier's injury
which makes his stats for his first 2 seasons less impressive statistically because they weren't given the same opportunity as BI
...so IRT to your 3rd season mountaintop, you're not comparing apples to apples...
3rd season comparison on BI and Wiggy
https://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/pcm_finder.fcgi?request=1&sum=0&player_id1_hint=Andrew+Wiggins&player_id1_select=Andrew+Wiggins&y1=2017&player_id1=wiggian01&idx=players&player_id2_hint=Brandon+Ingram&player_id2_select=Brandon+Ingram&y2=2019&player_id2=ingrabr01&idx=players
Anybody claiming Wiggy is on a trajectory to be an MVP candidate?
Wiggy's good for a 40pt game every now and again...but BI puts up a couple of 30pt games in year 3...and he's going to be better than...errybody?
FOH.

2689167, Wiggins BETTER lol Posted by ThaTruth, Wed Feb-27-19 10:28 AM

It's pretty awesome to see.
|
2689093, Absolutely...and it's all been done under shifting roles + pressure Posted by LA2Philly, Tue Feb-26-19 03:43 PM
He's obviously talented but what separates him from most young players is his mentality. He's so solely focused on the game, rarely rattled...it takes a very mentally strong player to deal with all the changing roles and limelight that he's had to deal with yet not only come out on top but take a top off the growth curve.
|
2689053, So why was Kuzma singled out? Posted by Case_One, Tue Feb-26-19 11:39 AM

2689059, Kuz is more 'LeSystem Ready' Posted by Dr Claw, Tue Feb-26-19 12:33 PM
where as the strengths of BI aren't readily apparent in the same system.
BI has struggled mightily with all of the changes to boot, trying to find his spot. It could also be the Duke thing but "Duke" in 2019 is a very different thing from my youth. Duke is basically the "Lakers" of College BBall at this point
|
2689070, You need to start watching BI right now instead of that false narrative Posted by LA2Philly, Tue Feb-26-19 01:26 PM
He struggled early on but now he’s finding his groove alongside LeBron (best 10 game stretch of his career). Both Kuz and BI are in fact. Those three and Bullock are carrying the team offensively
|
2689149, Bullock was a quality trade Posted by Dr Claw, Wed Feb-27-19 09:10 AM

2689060, a good loss for the Cavs. Tank On. Posted by Dr Claw, Tue Feb-26-19 12:35 PM
they fought down that huge deficit against Portland, but ultimately took the L.
again, Cedi is just shining with Kevin Love actually playing.
Sucks I gotta wait another year to see this team give a proper effort because I can see this team, while not a world beater, get back on track.
Hopefully when the tank's done we'll see a DeAaron Fox-type leap from Sexton.

2689131, Just think if Doncic and Bagley are both better picks than Ayton Posted by DeepAztheRoot, Wed Feb-27-19 03:17 AM
there's certainly a good argument to be had

2689132, Doncic for SURE. Bagley is likely. Posted by Ryan M, Wed Feb-27-19 04:15 AM

2689150, Doncic definitely is... but we knew that Posted by Dr Claw, Wed Feb-27-19 09:12 AM
>there's certainly a good argument to be had
Ayton to me isn't a bust. He's going to be an HQ NBA player but if the Suns don't fix their most glaring hole people it's gonna take longer for people to realize.
|
2689428, two big glaring holes IMO Posted by DeepAztheRoot, Fri Mar-01-19 02:18 PM
at PG and PF
|
2689338, I would have taken Doncic one no question. The rest, eh, TBD Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Thu Feb-28-19 06:21 PM
I thought Doncic was bar none the best prospect in the draft. From there I don't know if I could really call if Bagley was going to be better than Carter long term. Ayton has all the tools but let's face it few bigs have come out that young and been impact guys. Moses Malone, Dwight Howard and a very short list of others. I'm willing to give him some time. Young was another guy I liked a lot but so much has to do with how he's used at the NBA level. So far I think Atlanta is doing a surprisingly good job, all things considered
