2681804, SPURS are 14 -14, but I think Pop got them clicking.
Posted by Castro, Thu Dec-13-18 10:34 PM
They are sitting at 11th in the standings in the West, but I think they end up with the 8th seed.

Their bench still seems thin, but Demar, Rudy and Ole' Lerch are looking spry.
2681852, the West is weird af so far, hard to judge imo
Posted by benny, Fri Dec-14-18 11:27 AM
it's definitely gonna take near-full capacity performances from LMA (who's scored 20+pts 14 times this year, only 2 of those in losses) and Demar to do it but I agree the 8th spot is achievable, and then who knows
2682280, Since I posted this they moved from 11th to 9th
Posted by Castro, Wed Dec-19-18 10:13 PM
And there are 2.5 games separating them and the 4th seed. They look smooth...everybody is getting their looks. Pop got Rudy Gay sharing the ball! None of the stars are playing ridiculous minutes. I dont think they have the guns to beat the top teams in a 7 game series but they are playing winning basketball without struggling to find their rhythm.
2682295, DeRozan is fuckin BALLING but no one is noticing

That is what this post is about....it ain't just him tho....in that clip on twitter, look at that spacing....he has room to operate. He is not being forced to take a bunch of threes....its beautiful basketball to watch.
2683570, i really worry about SA being a relocation candidate
Posted by rob, Fri Jan-04-19 09:57 PM
If the team isn’t a contender in the next 2-3 years

These all star votes are shameful.
2683529, shit...they absolutely took Toronto's sleeves off, last night
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Jan-04-19 02:27 PM
.
2683533, oh man. I had a whole lot of 'SAME ENERGY' requests out there

2683592, I thought they were going to suffer because of their guards
Posted by Castro, Sat Jan-05-19 04:51 PM
with the injury to Dejounte and Ginobili and Parker gone. Early on it looked that way, but the young guards have stepped up, Betrans has stepped up...everyone is playing Spurs ball.
2687511, DeFrozen is now a NET negative by a LARGE margin, LoL
Posted by FILF, Tue Feb-12-19 03:44 AM
2683539, this post was prophetic. This was the *exact* moment they clicked
Posted by Vex_id, Fri Jan-04-19 04:07 PM
and have been on a crazy tear ever since. Didn't they set a franchise record for most wins in December or something like that?
-->
2683571, Let’s ease up. Crowd + Toronto health + Green shot like he was a Spur
Posted by rob, Fri Jan-04-19 10:14 PM
I respect what they’re doing and Derozan has been insane, but they’re also just doing what Pops teams do.

They’re seeded right now just like they were at the end of last year. They had a pretty good month, then a mediocre month, then a good month. Their win percentage for December is roughly what Indiana has done all year.

Being a borderline playoff team in the West is no place to be unless they’re molding these first rounders to be better than Mills/Forbes and planning to hit on another star to pair in the front court before next season starts.

2683572, Last night they looked even better because of Forbes
Posted by Castro, Fri Jan-04-19 10:32 PM
usually its Belinelli that is the 4th scorer...but last night it was Forbes....that makes the first unit even more dangerous if he and White can hit spot up J's.

DeMar looks great. Lerch is happy, and Rudy is playing great all around ball.

This isn't my squad, but I am enjoying their play right now.
2684200, now 25-18, beat OKC in a double OT thriller
Posted by Dr Claw, Fri Jan-11-19 09:41 AM
yeah, Spurs gonna sneak in the playoffs now. and if Walker comes back and contributes next year.... watch out
2684205, good ass game.

2684231, Now that he has some fake Tony's in the backcourt, they are clicking again
Posted by Castro, Fri Jan-11-19 01:55 PM
And Belinelli went straight Manu.
2684240, I remember saying I would love us to be able to grab Bellinelli after his...
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Jan-11-19 02:40 PM
buyout and several people laughed at me.
2684248, Yeah he on that Vinnie Microwave Johnson vibe some games.
Posted by Castro, Fri Jan-11-19 05:25 PM
2684201, damn Softridge went off lol
Posted by ThaTruth, Fri Jan-11-19 09:48 AM
2684202, Why do you still call him Softridge?
Posted by Numba_33, Fri Jan-11-19 09:54 AM
He's been operating in the low post on the offensive end since last season.
2684238, we've been calling him that since the Portland days
Posted by ThaTruth, Fri Jan-11-19 02:30 PM
2684239, I legit never heard anyone say that before you...
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Jan-11-19 02:39 PM
or since. I thought you started it because he went to SA instead of the Lakers.
2684244, RE: I legit never heard anyone say that before you...
Posted by ThaTruth, Fri Jan-11-19 03:41 PM
>or since. I thought you started it because he went to SA
>instead of the Lakers.

I think I did start it but again it was back in the Portland days when celery used to ride hard for them. If you do a search there are posts going back at least to 2013 calling him that and I'm pretty sure the nickname goes back further than that.

I was never big on him coming to the Lakers.
2684204, wild, wild game...
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Jan-11-19 10:17 AM
I had to be up at 4, this morning. The game didn't start til damn near 9, Central. I was dying!! Sucks to be on the losing end of that. Some bad reffing, but...the Spurs shot 84% from 3. It was like mid 3rd quarter before they missed their first one...and LMA was just a damn dog. Wish we had Noel to play him when Steven was out...or just in general. Hate that we lost on a night with so many career highs, too...Russ-24 assists, Jerami-25 points, T-Ferg hit 7 threes. These same two teams play again tomorrow night in OKC.
2684230, OKC is really tough too. Westbrook as facilitator supreme???
Posted by Castro, Fri Jan-11-19 01:51 PM
I feel like he is pacing himself for the postseason, but then there are moments where he really works for the extra pass now that he has shooters. I also attribute that to Adams and his selflessness. Losing Noel definitely hurts, but they are dangerous.
2687567, Yeah they are figuring out how to play and have more useful players
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Tue Feb-12-19 02:07 PM
Got some athleticism and shooting in the mix, dumped a little dead weight (rhymes with fellow) and they are a fun team to watch now instead of a frustrating one.
2684341, Broke even...
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Jan-12-19 10:56 PM
Spurs were human from 3 and we shot nearly 50% from behind the arc. Solid win.
2684343, Fake Tony's played poor tonight.
Posted by Castro, Sat Jan-12-19 11:13 PM
And y'all bench kept up with them...good win.
2691000, another winning season CLINCHED
Posted by Dr Claw, Tue Mar-19-19 11:42 AM
after all the GOATs have gone, the injuries, being in the West...

best coach in basketball
2691012, Pop might be the GOAT
Posted by Ryan M, Tue Mar-19-19 03:04 PM
But I still think Doc and Nate are doing a better job right today. But still - takes nothing away from Pop. Dude is insane.
2694647, They got beat by a more talented team, so nothing to feel bad
Posted by Castro, Sat Apr-27-19 11:38 PM
about.... Pop is the man.

2694654, Nope. He talked shit about Kawhi. He fucked up.

2694680, Yeah, respect to them.
Posted by khn, Sun Apr-28-19 01:38 PM
IDK where they go from here that awkward mix of so many aging contributors and probably-not-ready young guys. But they showed out against a clearly more talented team.
2694741, agreed. way they let a GOAT go off to the East
Posted by Dr Claw, Mon Apr-29-19 10:02 AM
and the other GOATs retired or were traded out.

damn, if they didn't fuck up the Kawhi thing they might be good enough to knock You Know Who out.
2694746, Letting Kawhi go that way is a generational stupid ass move by Pop
Posted by Orbit_Established, Mon Apr-29-19 10:59 AM

>damn, if they didn't fuck up the Kawhi thing they might be
>good enough to knock You Know Who out.

It's kind of incredible how no one sees is that way

It's kind of unreal

He hasn't won a series without Kawhi in almost a decade

LMAO @ the idea that these guys grow on fucking trees

No, asshole, Kawhi is a thorough, legit franchise player,
imbecile
