2681639, Ky KY T.Y.L. being a LEADER, getting the most out out his young guys
Posted by Basaglia, Wed Dec-12-18 09:16 AM
http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/25502202/jaylen-brown-new-journey-why-important-boston-celtics-nba

Jaylen been struggling and Ky put the presses on him with the stern but relatable leadership.

y'all be on here cysing nice games by bammas that's almost 30 and ain't gon NEVER be shyt worth mentioning after they retire (ol' millennial sedale threatt, willie burton, harold pressley, kevin willis ass dudes...DON'T NOBODY CARE WHAT BLAKE OR PG DOING IN 2019...THEY NOT BABIES!) meanwhile i been in the cut watching The Young Legend evolve as a leader in pursuit of a championship AS THE LEADER. that's all that natters now. padding don't matter no more. padding is for guys under 24. can you win a ring as THE GUY?

we gon see.

"I have such high expectations for a guy like Jaylen, knowing how smart he is off the court, knowing his intellect, how he likes to be challenged," Irving says. "On the court, you just know there's so much more for him. You can see how much better he can get.

"I don't think Jaylen has ever been challenged in this way. When you're challenged sometimes, and you've been only doing it for three years, you can question a lot of things. You question yourself, and your confidence wavers because everything you've been doing up to this point has worked. You're used to doing little things to get you out of a rut, but suddenly that's not happening.

"You find yourself in a situation where every single day you are demanded to be great. That's a hard journey for anybody in this league, and to have that much talent and not be able to showcase it, I'm sure it is tough on him.

"I definitely understand it. I'm empathetic, and I'm also patient."

Brown vows to be better. He says he'll track the league's best offensive players with a doggedness that will return him to the upper echelons of the defensive rankings. He'll prove to Kyrie Irving and the rest that he belongs in that starting five.

"This is a story that's being written," Brown says. "There's going to be highs and lows. Everything that's happened, the energy will change.

"Come back in two weeks. The numbers will be different, and so will I."

LEADER!
2681642, so why are they a worse team with him playing?
Posted by ThaTruth, Wed Dec-12-18 09:53 AM
2681644, why lonzo missing layups and y'all think people don't notice he bad?
Posted by Basaglia, Wed Dec-12-18 10:06 AM

they better without him? hmmmmmmmm...not according to the coach, GM and players tho. you must be going by that sample size that's a few percentage points "better"
2681654, He easily leads his team in win shares, +/-, and VORP.
Posted by Frank Longo, Wed Dec-12-18 12:01 PM
It’s impossible to argue that they’re better with him on the bench this season.
2681656, It's the season of Luka...advanced stats don't matter no more

2681660, Any time I look at the Mavericks' advanced stats...

Posted by ThaTruth, Wed Dec-12-18 12:14 PM
2681659, that's cool, because they win a lot with him out there.
Posted by Basaglia, Wed Dec-12-18 12:15 PM
2681665, Also a weird argument to make when Ky's only missed two games.
Posted by Frank Longo, Wed Dec-12-18 12:39 PM
And they won one and lost one.

He's obviously trying to refer to the Terry Rozier Hot Streak of Spring 2018, when Rozier was magically a net positive on offense for the first time in his college or professional career for about a month and a half. But last year's season-long numbers also all very obviously state that the Celtics were better with Kyrie on the floor, and you'd think Rozier's absolutely epic bed-shitting in the ECF would've reminded even those with a shred of basketball knowledge that the season-long numbers don't lie and regression to the mean is a bitch.
2681666, all I know is they were 1 game from the Finals without him *shrugs*
Posted by ThaTruth, Wed Dec-12-18 12:46 PM
2681667, Correct. That is, quite literally, all you know.
Posted by Frank Longo, Wed Dec-12-18 12:47 PM

2681678, For sure! Because NOTHING has changed in the NBA since then.

Posted by Castro, Wed Dec-12-18 08:44 PM
Al is coach/GM material without the hype machine behind him. Ky gonna get there, but them John Kelly type racists don't deserve another banner.
2681695, the whole article is about how the young dude isn't performing

2681792, sure is nice to have an ensemble of all-star talent around you
Posted by Vex_id, Thu Dec-13-18 07:00 PM
It's not really clear who *the* leader of this Celtics team is -- they all benefit from having so much talent buoying each other that no one player has to step up and be the leader night in and night out - which is a luxury to have.

This team was awfully good without Kyrie - and they're awfully good with him. TBD whether Kyrie can lead a team to a title as the Alpha, because he sure wasn't the Alpha when he was in Cleveland once Bron arrived.

-->
2681799, But he did hit the chip-winning jumper sooooo ...
Posted by Brew, Thu Dec-13-18 09:21 PM
... alpha or not ...
2681854, I've heralded that shot many times - but let's be clear:
Posted by Vex_id, Fri Dec-14-18 12:07 PM
that shot did not "win the title" all by itself - nor did it "save Lebron's legacy" like so many Skipy Bayless simps purport. Did Steve Kerr or Paxson "save Jordan's legacy?" Did Horry "save Kobe's legacy"? No - they did what role players and/or accompanying stars do: make big shots in big moments. They would never be in a position to make those shots if Jordan/Kobe/LeBron didn't will them to that moment with individual greatness.

So yes - it was an epic, all-time great shot by Ky - and he deserves all the credit for making it (right in Curry's grill) - but if it wasn't for the greatest 3-game stretch in NBA Finals History that Bron had (in Games 5, 6 & 7) - there would be no potential for that moment.

-->
2681801, As opposed to 3 years of Gee, Miles, Samardo, Luke, Manny, etc.?
Posted by Basaglia, Thu Dec-13-18 09:25 PM
It sure the fuck is nice.
2681855, That team was trash. Gilbert is the worst owner in the NBA
Posted by Vex_id, Fri Dec-14-18 12:10 PM
which is why *both* Kyrie and LeBron are gone.

But Kyrie in his current role is still not tasked to lead a team with individual greatness to the promised land - nor should he be in today's NBA. That's a fiction. Nobody does it alone. But I don't think any Celtics player should get credit for being the stand-alone leader on the squad - it's a mosaic of leadership driving that ship.
-->
2681860, lol...whatever, man. enjoy your goalposts.
Posted by Basaglia, Fri Dec-14-18 12:42 PM

kyrie was getting fried just two shorts weeks ago for them losing.
2681863, not sure what the beef is.
Posted by Dr Claw, Fri Dec-14-18 01:31 PM
he wasn't a free agent going to a team littered with all-stars, he got traded to that team. which at the time had maybe one all-star that wasn't injured, with two rookies that had yet to prove themselves.

Kyrie in Cleveland pre-Bron was:
Rookie of the Year
All-Star x2
All-Star MVP
youngest to drop 40 in MSG

on a team that was on the TANK (and had a FO that kept missing in the draft). he had sustained excellence despite his situation.

then LeBron came. we all know what happened next.

not everyone can be so good that you can't even tank if you tried to get to the Finals in year 4. Not even Golden Taint.

Bron could fall off a cliff tomorrow, and he'd still go down on Mt. Rushmore as one of the three greatest players to ever play.

Discuss.

-->
2684432, That’s fine, but stop actin like he resents or plotted on Bron
Posted by Basaglia, Sun Jan-13-19 05:45 PM
You want it both ways. You actually mad because that dude stood up for himself when he was being used as a pawn. It’s stupid. LeBron isn’t an ACTUAL king. He hit the genetic lottery and was fortunate. I think it’s great he can determine his future and where he wants to be. But don’t be mad Kyrie ain’t let him control his life, dawg.

You ain’t THAT far up Bron’s ass to think guys should be feeling blessed to be manipulated by Bron. Fuck him.
2684433, I've always been clear on this: Kyrie and LeBron are cool
Posted by Vex_id, Sun Jan-13-19 06:15 PM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nmz7sKtQXl4

Lebron ain't the GM - so he can't trade Kyrie. He was against them trading Kyrie to Boston. Kyrie was mad because he was in trade rumors - but that's on the organization, not a single player.

Kyrie wanted to journey elsewhere to see if he can lead a team to a title - and that's cool. Bron is the Godfather of player mobility and modern labor rights in the NBA.

But I've been clear that Kyrie will always look back at 2016 as the highest moment of his career - and will thus look back upon that time with nostalgia as the years go by and he realizes what he had there. He's a made-man because of that and all of his "I know what it takes to be a champion" is because of his rapid development and growth *under* Bron's leadership.

Better to be riding shotgun with Mt. Rushmore than to be the lead guy on a team that can't reach that height. It is what it is.

>You want it both ways. You actually mad because that dude
>stood up for himself when he was being used as a pawn. It’s

>lottery and was fortunate. I think it’s great he can

>mad Kyrie ain’t let him control his life, dawg.

I ain't mad at that at all. You're mad at Bron and been throwing darts non-stop. But I'd be mad too if I didn't care for a guy who's been dominating the league for an entire decade. I'd be ready for him to GTFO too.

-->
2684441, Fuck all that cool shit. Kyrie got out at the right time
Posted by Basaglia, Sun Jan-13-19 07:47 PM
You been talking in circles about this shit for 18 months. I don’t care who cool and who not. Shit, Russ and KD cool. Who cares. The only issue that matters is that EVERYTIME Kyrie is injured or the Celts struggle, Bron fans use it as fodder about to invalidate Kyrie’s legit reasons for getting the fuck away from a dude who smiled in his face and tried to fuck wit his career behind his back.

Nothing else you talking about is relevant.

lines up PERFECTLY with him asking to be trading from a niggas who leeched his talent to bolster his own legacy in a manic quest to convince people he better than a nigga who NEVER SHIT THE BED WITH JASON TERRY AND JOSE BAREA GUARDING HIM and ever let ANYONE visible get him shook, let alone some stiff nigga like kawhi.

and when the nigga used him up, he tried to trade him because he was scared of "that juggernaut out there in golden stats" (leadership).

so, yeah, kyrie been perceived as a psycho clown the past two years because he got out of two shitty situations and found a way to play with 3 of his best friends. seems like a win, but convince yourself otherwise, bro.

meanwhile, he's happier than ever, saved his HS alma mater with his own money and helps the basketball teams with practices and mentors players.

but, we talmbout other shit that makes him look "bad"...lol.

i mean, if we gon talk about, we gotta talk about it all. that's why i haven't entertained a real debate about kyrie's legacy, talent or this manufactured bs about leadership since he became a champ. and i told yall i wasn't going to, because i already knew niggas would be on getback after taking an L for YEARS and YEARS of shit-talking.

show me where he said who's tradeable?

shit like THAT is the problem. there's this initial wave of anti-kyrie bullshit on twitter, mostly bron, cavs and now boston fans twisting shit, not showing the ACTUAL footage...cutting the quotes and piecing the shit together with bum ass ellipses. it's so fucking stupid and then i listen to fans who are just so fucking lazy and don't wanna find out FACTS and we get HERE...kyrie said he wanted to trade muhfuckas because he didn't list all his teammates.

y'all act like kyrie just be yadda yadda yadda'ing shit, but it's really media doing that with his interviews....

kyrie: oh, we just gotta roll with what we have. i believe in these guys. we all know KD gon be back. prolly need aother piece besides him, so we gon deal with all that shit in the summer and focus on what we have now

It's no slight to Kyrie - he's just no *that* guy who can lead a team to a 'chip as the Alpha. No shame in that. There's only a few in the game who have that claim.

Kyrie realized how good he had it Cleveland under Bron's tutelage:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TP__Hh1nPZ8

Grass ain't always greener on the other side - especially when it's Celtic green. Ky needs KD back STAT - lest he be relegated to D. Wade status circa 2008/2009 - battling just to earn an 8th seed playoff berth.

It's tough w/ out the Kang. Being his hand ain't so bad after all.

He is smart. That’s is for sure and congrats on the VP move.

But that beyond meat investment is still up for judgement. Got as high as 250.00 a share, which was a serious pump. Then once those locked IPO shares became available to sell, investors dumped and it fell 66 a share! It’s back up to 122 a share, so we shall see. Their sales don’t support their market cap. See what their revenue and sales look like on the next earning report.
