2675346, League Championship Series Post
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Oct-12-18 06:13 AM
Heeeeeere we go!

Dodgers/Brewers

Astros/Sox

I enjoy having SOME kind of rooting interest when I watch sports and my team isn't playing. Even if it's just that I like one guy on a team. In the case of Dodgers/Brewers, it's pretty easy...fuck Ryan Braun. Astros/Sox...I got nothing. I certainly don't dislike either team and I respect their games, but...total indifference.
2675430, almost game time...Gio vs. Kersh
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Oct-12-18 06:39 PM
.
2675433, If Kershaw doesn’t come thru here I’m done defending him
Posted by DJR, Fri Oct-12-18 08:06 PM
Best regular season pitcher of the decade, but what the fuck. A HR to the pitcher?
2675435, Grandal....for real?
Posted by DJR, Fri Oct-12-18 08:22 PM
Passed balls, catchers interference, flat out not catching a throw home?
2675436, Error on Taylor.....WTF?
Posted by DJR, Fri Oct-12-18 08:41 PM
What an ass performance so far, defensively.
2675437, SMH, let him go if he wants the $. Pay Manny
Posted by DJR, Fri Oct-12-18 08:54 PM
2675965, Yeah, Kersh has playoff issues, but NO!
Posted by justin_scott, Wed Oct-17-18 06:48 PM
Kersh is far more important than bringing back Manny, and i definitely would like to see Manny back too, but Dodgers don't make all these playoffs without Kersh, nor do they next year without him (or replacing him with a younger ace)
2675971, Alright I take it back, pay them both!!! F it!!
Posted by DJR, Wed Oct-17-18 07:47 PM
2675975, and i think Puig too
Posted by justin_scott, Wed Oct-17-18 08:07 PM
i could be wrong, but i think his contract might be up
2675438, dann, Clayton...I don't know what to say, anymore
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Oct-12-18 09:27 PM
.
2675440, Manny, Taylor, and Kemp - only players who showed up
Posted by DJR, Fri Oct-12-18 11:17 PM
JT and Grandal played the worst games I’ve ever seen them play, Kershaw sucked. Somehow only a 6-5 loss.

2675441, JT is struggling with anything up
Posted by LA2Philly, Fri Oct-12-18 11:36 PM
It's like Belly last year with the off-speed into his hands...he never adjusted and teams just kept pounding him with it. JT keeps swinging at these high fbs out of the zone - that was literally the only thing Knebel threw to him and only 1 was for a strike.
2675485, Counsell hands it over to the pen with a 2 run lead...
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Oct-13-18 05:01 PM
Miley helps himself out with 2 hits. Arcia with a dinger.
2675486, Shaw puts one in the stands...3-0
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Oct-13-18 05:08 PM
.
2675487, Muncy walks on 5 pitches, Manny moves him over, Belly knocks him in
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Oct-13-18 05:13 PM
.
2675488, LOL...what in the world? Yelich has to catch that....
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Oct-13-18 05:20 PM
bases loaded, no outs for Puig.
2675489, got eeem...made him chase down and away...double play...
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Oct-13-18 05:24 PM
gets Jeffress out of a jam.
2675491, walks in a run...3-2
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Oct-13-18 05:28 PM
.
2675490, I like Puig, but I just assume he’ll strike out every time he’s up.....
Posted by DJR, Sat Oct-13-18 05:27 PM
in a big spot in the playoffs.
2675492, dude fought through 9 pitches, then swung at a ball that wasn't close
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Oct-13-18 05:29 PM
.
2675493, bases loaded for Grandal....dude really could use something good, here
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Oct-13-18 05:31 PM
.
2675494, hits into a routine double play...inning over
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Oct-13-18 05:32 PM
.
2675495, Grandal might be the worst playoff hitter of all time
Posted by DJR, Sat Oct-13-18 05:33 PM
for a guy that’s pretty good in the regular season.
2675497, Great catch by Cody! Needed that
Posted by DJR, Sat Oct-13-18 05:44 PM
Top of the order up. Time to make it happen.
2675498, JT bounces back!
Posted by DJR, Sat Oct-13-18 05:53 PM
2675499, Jeffress never could find the plate....JT made him pay...
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Oct-13-18 05:54 PM
they were trying to get Knebel ready, but...too late.
2675521, Phew
Posted by LA2Philly, Sat Oct-13-18 07:53 PM
Both games have been tough to watch. When Kenta hug that slider middle-in to a middle-in pull mistake hitter (Grandy), I was ready for the white gates. Thankfully he got underneath it just enough.

Offense aside, Baez was the most important piece. Unlike last year where we constantly taxes the pen, Pedro has taken innings off everyone else. Counsel is finding out the double edged sword of long bullpen relief. I know it’s the formula that got them here but Miley’s cutter was just killing us, completely off balance.
2675598, World Champs up 1-0...
Posted by LAbeathustla, Sun Oct-14-18 05:17 PM
i know yall mad
2675612, MARWINNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!
Posted by LAbeathustla, Sun Oct-14-18 07:15 PM
2675625, Price and the Sox showed heart there.
Posted by Nodima, Sun Oct-14-18 11:15 PM
I'm so glad these two teams are playing each other, there's a chance this is the most compelling series of the playoffs. They might have been equals on paper but the Red Sox have a lot more holes on their roster.

McCullers and Maldonado could've crushed the Astros' team spirit there late with all those passed balls, but Bregman nearly took the house down in that final at bat. I love his development as a villain for opposing fanbases; dude is having a Bondsian series right now.

Kimbrel bending and not breaking has been nearly as dramatic as the last few episodes of Better Call Saul and some of fall's best television.

2675626, good win for the sox..they needed that shit.. we got a series 1-1
Posted by LAbeathustla, Mon Oct-15-18 12:38 AM
2675787, I have no faith in my Dodgers
Posted by cindylu, Tue Oct-16-18 01:47 PM
2675955, should be some real good games tonight.
Posted by Nodima, Wed Oct-17-18 03:46 PM
Brewers openly hate Machado at this point and I know they get to go home after this but my gut tells me if they don't take this one, the Dodgers are gonna roll 'em Friday. They also gotta want to give the bullpen some extended time off and win Game 6 to end it now that they've lost Gio as well.

Sadly, it might be in the best interest of a competitive World Series if the Brewers roll over at this point, though. I like their team more, but I just don't see what realistic shot they have at either of the AL teams.

Then on the other side you've got the Astros, who should be rolling through the Red Sox on paper but their bullpen has been completely nullified by the Sox' hot bats and that Brasier guy is turning in a pretty fun post season so far. It's pretty wild how hot Springer and Bregman have been, Springer as a plain hitter and Bregman from every advanced stat, and yet the Astros seem to be getting colder and colder at the plate as a team. There's been so much offense in this series though, part of me wonders if tonight might fuck around and be a pitcher's duel.

As long as it doesn't go a sleepy 12 like last night, I'd take that. I don't really have a rooting interest in this one, I like both teams equally.

2675959, question is whether the dodgers bats wake up or not
Posted by justin_scott, Wed Oct-17-18 04:48 PM
yesterday was an amazing game, but back to back horrible hitting games will not get you to the WS. Even today, the dodgers have already left 2 on base.
2675962, that was incredibly stupid Kershaw
Posted by justin_scott, Wed Oct-17-18 05:12 PM
you have 1 out, and a guy trying to bunt. let him bunt. get that second out. instead you walk him? then get frustrated and give up a run? Dodgers would not have the success they've had without Kershaw, but my god is he horrible in the playoffs.
2675964, Small ball, FINALLY!!!
Posted by justin_scott, Wed Oct-17-18 06:47 PM
.
2675966, so Roberts lets Kershaw bat in the 7th, but he is done for the game?
Posted by justin_scott, Wed Oct-17-18 06:50 PM
that makes no sense. yes, it worked, but you don't have your pitcher bat if you're pulling him from the game. SMH at Roberts.
2675967, Why not? He's hitting .240 and you don't use up a positional
Posted by LA2Philly, Wed Oct-17-18 07:05 PM
player and it's a feint for the Brewers. If you follow Doc at all, you know he has a rationale for everything he does.
2675970, i still dont get it, but it worked, so fuck my opinion
Posted by justin_scott, Wed Oct-17-18 07:24 PM
honestly, i just wanted to see Kersh get that 8th inning.
2675969, Barnes did nothing wrong
Posted by justin_scott, Wed Oct-17-18 07:23 PM
bullshit call
2675972, Considering the circumstances, maybe Kershaw’s best game ever?
Posted by DJR, Wed Oct-17-18 07:49 PM
It’s right up there. He was great in a huge spot.

Some great, great at bats in the latter innings by most of the lineup.
2675976, and so important to his legacy
Posted by justin_scott, Wed Oct-17-18 08:08 PM
yeah, he faltered in the first game vs the Brewers, but he's now had 2 playoff gems this year. dodgers do not win a world series without him pitching a gem.
2676014, I need JBJs bat and blood checked..
Posted by LAbeathustla, Thu Oct-18-18 07:52 AM
dude has been nails
2676128, Hey! The Red Sox went to the World Series last night
Posted by pretentious username, Fri Oct-19-18 10:28 AM
Didn't see this lasting less than 6 games, least of all after Game 1. David Price was a different man last night. He was completely relaxed. Hopefully Kimbrel settles down after last night's outing too cause he's been giving me heart attacks.

And congrats to JBJ! Huge series.
2676194, This is it!! (c)Kenny Loggins....
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Oct-20-18 07:14 PM
winner goes the WS, loser goes the fuck HOME. Buehler/Chacin get the starts. Leggo!!
2676195, Brew Crew on the board first...
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Oct-20-18 07:35 PM
Dodgers already got a man on, with no outs. I'd imagine there will be quick hooks for either pitcher...especially Chacin. How patient will Counsel be?
2676196, Belly with the crusher...2-1, Dodgers
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Oct-20-18 07:36 PM
.
2676201, managers making moves...
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Oct-20-18 08:01 PM
Hader in in, top of the 3rd and Roberts goes with Hernandez...so, Joc is done for the night.
2676204, the boobs next to guy in orange behind the plate are distracting me
Posted by DJR, Sat Oct-20-18 08:34 PM
2676208, I wish I knew more to know how crazy (good or bad) Roberts' move seem
Posted by obsidianchrysalis, Sat Oct-20-18 08:54 PM
I don't get the Hernandez move and while taking out Buehler makes sense, putting in a 23-year old to replace him doesn't make much sense to me.

But again, I don't know either way.
2676211, He’s consistent in playing the matchups, lefty- righty
Posted by DJR, Sat Oct-20-18 08:59 PM
and using the bench and pen.

They took Joc out because of that, but he got hit awfully hard on the wrist by a pitch yesterday. He can’t be feeling great today.
2676209, WOW!!!!
Posted by obsidianchrysalis, Sat Oct-20-18 08:56 PM
Huge catch there by Taylor there.

https://twitter.com/FOXSports/status/1053827177563643905
2676210, That may end up being an all time catch by Chris Taylor
Posted by Warren Coolidge, Sat Oct-20-18 08:58 PM
2676212, I’d already counted that run....Taylor saved it
Posted by DJR, Sat Oct-20-18 09:00 PM
Amazing play in a huge spot.
2676214, fuckin huge, bro
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Oct-20-18 09:06 PM
.
2676215, Jeffress has not been good, this post-season
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Oct-20-18 09:06 PM
.
2676216, YESSSSSS!!!!!
Posted by DJR, Sat Oct-20-18 09:06 PM

2676219, Ryan Madson looks like a veteran police detective...
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Oct-20-18 09:19 PM
who's partner was killed in a drug bust, gone bad...since then he has only worked alone, but now the Chief has assigned the new detective to work with him.
2676220, Not sure about Jansen this early....
Posted by DJR, Sat Oct-20-18 09:38 PM
2676223, I would have waited......
Posted by Warren Coolidge, Sat Oct-20-18 09:44 PM
had Ferguson and Maeda up here in the 7th ...try to get Madsen out of the 7th and used Maeda and/or Ferguson in the 8th with Kenley ready if need be...

4 run lead..our bullpen has been solid
2676225, Agreed
Posted by DJR, Sat Oct-20-18 09:46 PM
2676235, Tried to break it open and failed.....didn’t like it
Posted by DJR, Sat Oct-20-18 10:21 PM
Jansen was mowing them down. Only threw 15 pitches. Let it ride.
2676243, But it worked!! Kershaw was great!
Posted by DJR, Sat Oct-20-18 10:29 PM
2676303, He wanted Jensen for a leveraged spot + the top of their lineup
Posted by LA2Philly, Sun Oct-21-18 09:55 AM
CK to close. Same formula as against the Nats in a close-out game 5 two years ago and the same formula Doc wanted to use in game 7 in the WS if we had a lead
2676304, Yeah, I get the logic....
Posted by DJR, Sun Oct-21-18 10:06 AM
It’s just....Jansen struck out 3 of 4 betters on only 15 pitches. The way it had gone, he was in great shape for another inning, and the uncertainty of a starter coming in on only two days rest. I know he’s done it before, but....

It worked though. Roberts does what he does and has done a great job so it’s hard to question him.....but in the moment I felt great about Jansen.
2676227, Puig is at least a top 5 most exciting player
Posted by justin_scott, Sat Oct-20-18 09:56 PM
no one on the dodgers gets the crowd more hyped. no one. not even kersh or turner.
2676234, 3 more outs. Kershaw pitching
Posted by justin_scott, Sat Oct-20-18 10:19 PM
This shit is over.
2676237, Kike should have bunted
Posted by justin_scott, Sat Oct-20-18 10:23 PM
no one would have been expecting that. put down any decent bunt, and a run scores.
2676238, He’s had a really bad series
Posted by DJR, Sat Oct-20-18 10:24 PM
2676244, World Series MFERS
Posted by justin_scott, Sat Oct-20-18 10:32 PM
fuck cheating ass Ryan Braun. Fuck racist/sexist/homophobe Hader.
