2663986, The Dwight Howard Late Career Tour Continues
Posted by Marauder21, Wed Jun-20-18 08:29 AM
Adding more teams to the end of that HOF plaque, but good for the Nets.

https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1009426530005643265

Charlotte is finalizing a deal to send Dwight Howard to the Brooklyn Nets for Timofey Mozgov, league sources tell ESPN. Nets will save $17M on deal in 2019-20 season, allowing them to create two max salary slots.
2663990, i don't even know how to assess trades anymore
Posted by Cenario, Wed Jun-20-18 08:34 AM
i gotta see each teams 3-5 year plan.
2663994, As if being a Hornets fan wasnt already hard enough
Posted by tully_blanchard, Wed Jun-20-18 08:54 AM
Somebody please tell me how this makes any sense...

We got Kupchak acting like Jordan in the front office already...showing loyalty to jabronis..smmfh

Kemba Walker's coming up on the end of his contract, they've got to decide if they're going to try and resign him or not.
2663999, If the mock drafts are to be believed
Posted by tully_blanchard, Wed Jun-20-18 09:10 AM
We're looking at a point guard in the first round. Sounds like theyre ready to move on from Kemba. Would love to see him and Monk play a full year together...assuming Monk gets some serious run this year.

2664033, I saw it when his time in Orlando was winding down...
Posted by Marbles, Wed Jun-20-18 11:17 AM

I wouldn't say we were Magic fans but they're close and we lightweight followed the team & rooted for them.

When Dwight decided he didn't want to be there anymore, he just became a complete joke. He can be one of the most unlikeable pro athletes I can remember.

2664040, I mean, he seems like an unlikable dick in the media
Posted by bignick, Wed Jun-20-18 11:37 AM
And that's with him trying to be charming. I can't imagine how insufferable dude is in person.
2664016, WHY THIS F###ING TEAM LOVE SOME BIG SLOW WHITE DUDES
Posted by legsdiamond, Wed Jun-20-18 10:14 AM
I'm done.. I don't have an NBA team so I adopted this trash ass org.

2664020, this is an absolute heist for Marks
Posted by rjc27, Wed Jun-20-18 10:21 AM
Shed Mozgov's horrendous contract for a massive one year expiring deal?

As a player howard quietly had a really damn good season too

Nets get way more flexible long-term
2664022, "I wish I knew how to quit you" - Mitch on Mozgov
Posted by Ryan M, Wed Jun-20-18 10:26 AM
2664031, What kind of dirt does Moz have on Mitch?
Posted by Cold Truth, Wed Jun-20-18 11:08 AM
Because, when the first move of your new job is nearly the exact same move that got you fired from your last job, there's a good chance you're a criminal or deviant, and that guy has got the goods.
2664094, he probably has Mitch on tape with some midgets
Posted by ThaTruth, Wed Jun-20-18 03:18 PM
2664037, And I thought getting traded for Miles Plumlee and Bellinelli was bad
Posted by mrhood75, Wed Jun-20-18 11:27 AM
(yes, I know Bellinelli had a resurgence on the Sixers)

But getting swapped out for Mozgov? Really? Talk about an ignominious end.
2664047, He actually may end up on the Warriors as a big in january
Posted by Ink_Spot, Wed Jun-20-18 12:27 PM
...
2664057, That’s my bet too.
Posted by Ryan M, Wed Jun-20-18 01:07 PM
Javale is probably leaving. He’s a rich mans Javale at this point.
2664062, I mean, on paper it'd be perfect.
Posted by mrhood75, Wed Jun-20-18 01:48 PM
Talked about it on here before: Dwight should be a great fit for the team. We'd just need him to rebound, block shots, and catch lobs (though his leaping at what it used to be, it'd still work).

However, between West and Livingston's comments and things people close to the team are saying, there were problems with the locker room last season. Particularly with guys new to the team who "had to be shown how things are done here." Only new guys last season were Young and Casspi; one got pretty marginalized by the end of the season (mostly because he stunk while Steph was hurt) and the other got waived.

Which is my long way of saying that the word is that the coaching staff wants to be very careful with who they bring in this off-season. And if goofs/space cadets like Nick Young were causing problems and having the staff longing for the steadying veteran presence of Matt Fricking Barnes, I don't know how a noted locker-room cancer like Howard would go over.
2664095, If he is available they will take him in a heartbeat
Posted by Ink_Spot, Wed Jun-20-18 03:19 PM
On an expiring contract and at this stage of his career, he will be humongous to everything they do. He will also give all of himself for that one chip.

I also really liked Casspi, and thought they missed him a lot in the playoffs. I understood the waiving, because they needed back up PG's. Dwight will mean everything on that team, and if I was the league, I would do all I can to prevent it.
2664083, warriors sweeping the playoffs if they get him.
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Wed Jun-20-18 02:45 PM
2664049, Huge win for the Nyets.
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Wed Jun-20-18 12:44 PM
Honestly this is all the Hornets could get for Howard? Taking on a shittier contract, two second-rounders and some cash? Probably would have made more sense just to buy him out and move on if they were so determined to dump him. They got worse from almost every perspective with this deal, apart from adding a couple of picks they wouldn't have had any trouble acquiring anyway if they were determined.

The Nets obviously set up their 2019 summer and also get an asset here. They won't move it to take on salary but might be an attractive piece to the right team (low-salary team that whiffs in free agency, trade deadline rental for a decent team with some dead expiring salary to match and picks maybe).
2664066, lol @ mitch.

2664285, Can't believe it's ending
Posted by Marauder21, Thu Jun-21-18 01:32 PM
I'll always remember the Dwight Howard Nets era though.

-The time I saw on Twitter that Dwight Howard was getting traded to the Brooklyn
-The time I went to OKS to see if someone had already posted it
-The posts about Mitch Kupchak's infatuation with Mozgov and speculation that Dwight would be on Golden State by the end of the season.
-And now this reply

It just doesn't feel real yet.
2664385, i never wouldve known had i not come here
