Jabari had some of the best footwork and one of the broadest one-on-one skill-sets i've seen for a college player. If he stays healthy and things fall right he could make a few All-Star teams one day. But this kind of bullshit-and-you-know-it post is why you have no credibility

Jabari Parker is one of the nicest and smartest young
people in the game. A great ambassador for basketball.

He *happens* to not be at good at basketball as Carmelo
Anthony, at any stage. And probably not in any way.

That's not a problem! Want to know why?

Carmelo Anthony is one of the better (top 25) all around
scorers the game has ever seen, was a transcendent NCAA
Player (his success changed the one and done model; you
CAN win a chip with it), is an all time great FIBA player
and is probably the best Latino to ever pick up a
basketball.

And he's almost certainly a 1st ballot to Springfield.

Jabari Parker's peak was always Milsap. Milsap is an
All-star and FINE NBA player.

Jabari was Gatorade Player of the Year as a junior. Got injured and slipped a bit in the rankings. Finished as #3 overall.

Melo was #2 overall.

Jabari put up 19/9 while shooting 47% & 37% from 3. Melo put up 22/10 while shooting 45% and 34% from 3.

Jabari played like 20 something games as a rookie.

Twice as many assists for Melo too. National champs vs. losing to Mercer matters too.

Team success does matter. But we were always referring to skill sets.

And by twice as many assists you're talking about 1 more assist. Lol
2652087, skill sets - Melo was a better scorer, rebounder, and passer in college
Posted by DJR, Mon Apr-23-18 09:51 AM
Not to mention, winner.

Melo had 33 and 14 against Texas in the final 4, and 20, 10, and 7 against Kansas in the title game. Jabari went 4-14 against Mercer. Jabari was very good, but they just weren’t the same level of player.
2652146, Incorrect. And the numbers do not reflect that in college...

numbers even sway in favor of Jabari per-40, and Melo was not the Gatorade Player of the year in any year let alone his Junior season.

***shrugs***

That's why it's called splitting hairs.

And Melo had at least one of Top 5 Freshman season of the last 20 years.

But again, I'm talking skill sets.

2652067, Right....and he was doing 12 and 5
Posted by DJR, Mon Apr-23-18 08:58 AM
Melo put up 21 and 6 on a playoff team as a rookie.

Was Bari going to go from 12 and 5 in December to 21 and 6 for the season by April? No. No he wasn’t.

He’s never been as good as Melo. Lol at bringing up the comparison after a 16 point game off the bench. Weird thread.

Jabari padding for 25 in Orlando wouldn’t match Melo’s 26 ppg on .492 on a playoff team either at age 23. Sorry.
2652072, problem is WE DON'T KNOW....just like we ain't know in 2013
Posted by Basaglia, Mon Apr-23-18 09:05 AM

that melo was gonna go scoreless in multiple 4th quarters when his team needed the only thing he's good for.

but it happened.

donovan mitchell went from 8ppg one month and 18ppg the next. Brandon Ingram went from 8ppg entering break to 13ppg after.

and that's just the ones i know offhand. rookies improve.

now when bari puts togeher a few healthy season, all you gonna be doing is moving goalposts. jabari a more efficient scorer than melo will ever be...because melo DONE.

bari best is yet to come. and you mad.

Averaged 29 for the series. Should’ve averaged 40 I guess. The story of that series was Hibbert outplaying Chandler and the Knicks “shooters” missing all series.

Cool. To average 21 and 6, you’ve gotta do it all season. Like Melo did. Or if you do 12 and 5 for two months, you gotta do....what, like 28 and 7 the rest of the season to get those averages up? Not gonna happen.

>now when bari puts togeher a few healthy season, all you gonna

I hope he does put together a few healthy seasons. Why wouldn’t I? I like the kid.

Lol.

Cool, hope so.

Melo will move into the top 20 all time in scoring next year. Future first ballot hall of famer. His spot is secure.

If Jabari can stay healthy and have a better career than a Jamal Mashburn, he’d be doing well. There’s just no evidence to suggest he’ll have a better career than Carmelo. Weird thread.
2652077, no evidence that melo was ever a franchise player. facts.

If Jabari can stay healthy enough to top Jamal Mashburn, Danny Manning, Josh Smith....that level of player? That’s a solid career, and it’s probably doable. Good luck.

2652144, their drop off is an epic win for you

That Cavs team with Kyrie was the toughest we will ever face in our current run.

I'll take ANY of these current east teams in the finals over that Cavs squad

2652172, by current i have to assume you mean based on current player availability
Posted by cgonz00cc, Mon Apr-23-18 01:17 PM
ie this healthy celtics team vs this healthy celtics team with a year of seasoning and healthy Ky and Hayward
2652175, well, yea. They gutted you in a 3-1 comeback for the ages.
Posted by Vex_id, Mon Apr-23-18 01:21 PM
And they were led by the best player in the world. That team would've beaten you in 2015, too had they been whole (or even had Kyrie been healthy).

You'll never face a team as good as that one led by the 2nd best player to ever live.

2652208, Yeah Lebron + any 100% healthy All-Star is essentially unbeatable

It's kind of incredible

You may want to check the math on that. 3 out of 6 with TWO fully healthy All Stars seems a little off quantitatively from 100% with one.

You think Wade was healthy in 2013 & 2014? lulz. Bosh was banged up as well.

Kyrie and Love were *both* out for the Finals in 2015.

you on that breitbart.com spin.

2652285, this is always my favorite part of discussions like this

>You think Wade was healthy in 2013 & 2014? lulz. Bosh was
>banged up as well.

they both played in every playoff game in 2011 and 2014, and both averaged 34mpg or above. if Wade can be judged on what he did when he and Bosh missed a combined 60+ games in 2015, Bron can most certainly be judged for losing with both of them playing heavy minutes in *every* game.

>Kyrie and Love were *both* out for the Finals in 2015.

yet they both played max games in *2017* and both averaged 32 mpg.

so thats 3 losses, each with a pair of All Stars carrying a normal workload. matched with 3 wins, thats precisely 3 out of 6. I didnt even count 2015, and dude STILL aint over 50%.

That aint unbeatable...thats a fuckin coinflip.

2652415, dont want to talk about this anymore?

2652430, I mean, it speaks for itself.
Posted by Orbit_Established, Tue Apr-24-18 11:10 AM

I said "essentially" unbeatable.

He ain't been beaten with those conditions since that Finals
loss to the Mavs.

Give him healthy teammates who aren't awful, and he
wins chips. Beats 73 win teams even, down 3-1.

No reason to be sad
2652442, soooooo..."beatable"?
Posted by Basaglia, Tue Apr-24-18 11:44 AM
2652444, it does. lebron + 2 olympians = finals coinflip.
Posted by cgonz00cc, Tue Apr-24-18 11:53 AM
2652447, You said they were "fully healthy" - you were wrong.
Posted by Vex_id, Tue Apr-24-18 12:11 PM

>they both played in every playoff game in 2011 and 2014, and
>both averaged 34mpg or above.

Wade shot in the low 40's and averaged 14/15 ppg in the 2014 finals. He was hurt - and he was trash. Bron dragged him to the finish line the year prior to the 'chip. Had Bron performed like that y'all would've been frothing at the mouth in criticism. Instead - you simply say "they were fully healthy" - which is simply inaccurate.

The fact is: When Bron has had a fully healthy team with 2 legitimate all-stars - he runs through teams (who don't have 4 future hall-of-famers on them). You give LeBron 3 hall of famers? Yes - he's unbeatable.

The only time Bron could be beaten in his prime were with all-time teams w/ 4 hall-of-famers (Spurs/Warriors). And his record in the Finals w/ championship caliber teams is on par w/ all the other greats: Bird, Kareem, Magic etc...

Sorry that upsets you.

-->
2652455, they were healthy enough to play 35 mpg and they lost. period.
Posted by cgonz00cc, Tue Apr-24-18 01:06 PM
its a binary thing. either youre sitting out because youre injured, or you can play.

i dont make excuses for Chauncey Billups in 2003, Grant Hill in 2000, or Isiah in 88, so I'll brook none here either.

They played, they lost, life goes on.
2652506, Oh ok - so you're saying that Wade just sucks then? Got it.
Posted by Vex_id, Tue Apr-24-18 02:18 PM
Funny - I've only heard you defend and herald his performances. Obviously you're purely objective, though.

-->
2652541, lol i dont even fuckin LIKE wade
Posted by cgonz00cc, Tue Apr-24-18 04:00 PM
but he missed a quarter of the season in 2015 and you try to pretend he didnt. MISSED GAMES.

then he came back healthy and won a division and a playoff series

meanwhile Bosh didnt make it past January in *either* season and hasnt played since

i dont *laud* him, or make outlandishly grandiose claims about him. i just tell the truth.
2652176, Cavs are a really trashy front-office.
Posted by Vex_id, Mon Apr-23-18 01:26 PM
Had Bron not been born in Akron - they'd still be in the lottery and would never have the #RingOfAllRings in their safe.

You should be thanking LeBron. Kyrie is in the best situation possible for his career moving into the next chapter. The Cavs were trash with Kyrie before Bron came to save the day - and they'd still be trash he didn't return to lead Cleveland to salvation.

But your angst is unwarranted. Kyrie is a made-man and a champion - and you know damn well that he wouldn't be if he and Bron didn't team up. But that relationship goes both ways and it's why I've always been (and still am) high on Kyrie. I wanted Bron to leave Miami for Cleveland precisely because I thought Kyrie was way better than Wade (even when this board lambasted me for it - turns out I was correct). I hated to see Kyrie leave but it is what it is. Bron wouldn't have Ky w/ him right now anyway - so let's move on.

And Cavs won the division without Kyrie and basically equaled their win totals from last year. Would that have happened had Bron left and Kyrie stayed? Ky's a beast - but the idea that you need to taint the most historic NBA title in the league's history because Ky wanted out of an inept franchise is counter-productive.

2652258, yeah i mean they replaced kyrie with a bag of dicks are still OK
